Of course yes Denver is more scenic. Have you been in Denver before? Live by

the mountain it easy to tell which is east, weat, south and north. Michele

I am in IL. Denver is much more scenic than the flat plains where I live!

Isn't it weird how our minds don't age with our bodies. I still think

I am young, shapely, and gorgeous but that old lady in the mirror

keeps calling me a lier. Makes me just want to smack the old broad.

That's a prefect Hallmark card! You know, Maxine or whatever her name is -

this is perfect! I may use this on the next card I make for a friend's

birthday!

RE: A new member with CHARGE adult

Hello MIchele S.

It is nice to learn more about you and your family! I have a twin sister (we

are the oldest--55) and then a younger sister who is 49 and a brother (our baby)

who is 42. There is no one with CHARGE in my family. How interesting that your

sister work for cochlear implant business--is this something she became

interested in because of you? I am glad you and your sister found us!

I am glad you are with us and have actively joined our other lovely CHARGE

adults!

Yes, and I are going to conference. We are arriving in Ca

on July 25th and staying until the 31st. Yipee is so excited

about meeting all the other adults who are CHARGE like him. He has

never met anyone before with CHARGE. My email is

artthrob@... you can email me direct and I will send you

's email. He emails directly because the amount of emails

through the list overwhelms him. I know he would like to communicate

with you. He already does with some of the others.

So happy. Good that you are getting a get away alone. It was

many, many years before Henry and I ever got the chance. We were in Ca

9 years ago for our 25th wedding aniversary. Daughter, Dawn, was

living in L.A. at the time and we had with us. Henry and I

drove to Vegas alone for weekend while we were there. Dawn kept

for us. It was soooo nice. Will you be staying at the Hilton the

whole time? We are if I can get the lower rate for the entire time.

Flying into the Wayne Airport. Henry and I are also going to

Oklahoma for 2 weeks in June. Going to take our time driving and are

going to visit with some friends for an old fasion fish fry weekend.

Throw some agility dog shows and 's horse back riding

competetion (4 days at Penn State if he qualifies) our summer is

looking busy. Well you take care and be well.

Hi Michele S.

You sure have a big family!!

It is interesting that your sister is an audiologist because of you--nice that

you could influence her career!

There are two things I know about in the world: German Measles and CHARGE.

These are two VERY different things. CHARGE is genetic and German measles is

from the virus. WIth German measles (Rubella) the mother gets sick (sometimes

she does not know she is sick) from being exposed to someone with German measles

and if she is pregnant, her baby gets the virus, too. The baby can have

cataracts at birth, hearing loss, heart problems, learning problems, and other

things. With Rubella, there are no facial differences or outside ear

differences or colobomas or many of the problems associated with CHARGE.

With CHARGE, and you can get much information from the CHARGE website, there are

many problems from birth--some mild, some severe--several of which are very

noticeable such as facial palsy, odd shaped ears, breathing and swallowing

problems. We know now that CHARGE is a genetic condition; German Measles is

not.

There are tests that can be done to see if you have CHARGE or Rubella. Perhaps

a talk with your doctor will help figure this out for you. I am sure if you

have more questions about CHARGE, Meg Hefner the geneticist here will be able to

answer them for you. If you want more information about german measles

--Rubella--or it's other name--Congenital Rubella Syndrome--feel free to contact

me off-line.
