Hi,

My name is Joan and I am looking for support. I had my thyroid

removed ( papillary cancer) in July, iodine radiation in Sept and my 6

month scan in Mar. Thyroid cells are still showing or should I say

glowing ;-). I now have to do the whole ( off meds, low iodine diet

and RA- 123) thing over in 6 months. Is this typical? Has anyone

else done this that would like to share what it's like to do this

AGAIN. I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo dreading this already

Unfortunately when dealing with cancer, the scan part is needed, and

needed to be repeated. Although thyroid cancer does have a high success

rate, it is only because of all the steps and procedures they follow

after.

There is a new medication on the market called Thyrogen that you can

use instead of having to go off medication and be forced hypo..you take

meds as regular and then use the thyrogen starting 2 days before scan..

it is something you want to look into and ask your doctor about as it

will stop the gonig hypo for test and then having to re regulate things.

Thanks kats3boys for responding. I just did the

thyrogen injections and scan and cells were still

there so I have to do the off-meds thing again. To

anyone who reads this, if you did this, can you share

your experience, I would appreciate it.
