Guest guest
Hi ... Mine was 2 cm and also poorly differentiated. I had a lumpectomy (technically I had 2 during the same surgery trying to get clear margins). Unfortunately, when the final path came back the following week my margins still were not clear so I had to go back for a mastectomy. My staging was 1c and I had micro metastases (sp?) in my nodes, (itty bitty escapees that hadn't done anything yet) but it still counted as node-negative. Once you get past the informational tsunami, (no easy task : ) you will feel better. The unknown and the not fully understood are very scary (I'll vouch for that one). I tend to believe that with our lawsuit happy legal system, the medical community has to be VERY careful how they present things to patients (speculation on my part). Things like, " You should be fine " can come back to haunt when things don't go as hoped; " BUT YOU TOLD ME I WOULD BE FINE " (not quite it). I'm not saying the world is void of medical morons (we got plenty!), I'm just saying don't allow yourself to get sucked into the black hole of worst case scenarios (TRY hard not to worry so much...a toughie). - Jen : ) smiles from Alabama Stage 1c, Grade 3, ER- HER2+ Lumpectomy, SLNB, Mastectomy Diagnosed: 7/2006 (1st Mammo)
