Guest guest
I was given this to take as a " rescue " nausea drug and know it is an anti-anxiety drug. I really don't want to take much of it if at all, but will if needed. Has anyone else found it effective for nausea? Thank you! Ellie --------------------------------- No need to miss a message. Guest guest
Hello my dearest friend Ellie, Ativan did work for me.. I also think it helps you rest and stay relaxed which also helps keep the nauseasness at bay. I am amazed at the postings I've seen from you!!! I'm glad you're up and about.. How are you feeling?? That first treatment is almost exactly 1 week behind you? I haven't heard from you much so I was giving you your time and space, but please know that I miss you and can't wait to chat again soon. Guest guest
That's the first thing that goes through my IV when I have chemo....after looking up dosage, it's only about 1/2 the usual dosage. Just takes the edge off. My husband comes with me for my treatments to drive me home. He says I get a little " loopy " ....maybe it has something to do with me talking about how pretty the traffic lights are.....LOL! Guest guest
Hi Ellie...My onc gave me a prescription for it (I never filled it) after I got so sick with my second chemo (threw up ALL night long - it was awful : ) He said it was for " anticipatory nausea " and I guess I kind of raised my brows at that one because he told me it was VERY real. I remember someone telling me somewhere along the line about people that would turn green at the sight of their onc : ) I think that had I gotten that sick a second time, I would have definitely gotten it filled : ) But I went back to my Phenergan and stuck to to it and did not throw up anymore (thankfully!) - Jen : ) smiles from Alabama Stage 1c, Grade 3, ER- HER2+ Lumpectomy, SLNB, Mastectomy Diagnosed: 7/2006 (1st Mammo)

Guest guest
I've been taking it (at night only) since my initial diagnosis 10 months ago. It's a " wonder drug " for making me sleep and I plan on continuing to take it as long as I feel I need to. It's one of those " non-addictive " meds so I'm not worried about it. If it's working for anti-nausea - I say - take it! I refer to it as my " magic pill " as it makes me sleepy and I stay asleep throughout the night - that's magic to me! Hugs! Guest guest
Thanks, all, for the Ativan input. I had heard about the anti-anticipatory nausea aspect of the Ativan. I can see where one might have that, but didn't see why it would have been a problem for me yesterday. I was expecting to feel BETTER, but sometimes things work and we don't know why, and I must admit, 1/2 an Ativan, an extra compazine, some 7-Up and crackers, did seem to mellow out the nausea quite a bit. I've heard the Phenergan mentioned several times here, but not from the oncologist's office. I'll ask about that. Thank you! Ellie --------------------------------- Be a PS3 game guru. Guest guest
I love Ativan. I am taking it also. Since I still have pain from the mastectomy, especially when trying to find a comfy position in bed, the fact that it also helps me sleep is a real added bonus:) > > > > I was given this to take as a " rescue " nausea drug and know it is > an anti-anxiety drug.
