Hang in there. By the time you can feel a lump its usually been growing for

about 10 yrs. So it sounds like yours was found early. They won't know 100% till

they do a biopsy. Calcifications are deposits of calcium that can be seen on a

mammogram. There are two kinds, macrocalcifications which are large deposits and

are usually not related to cancer and microcalcifications which are specks of

calcium that may be found in an area of rapidly dividing cells. When these

specks form a certain pattern it is called a cluster. A cluster signifies to a

doctor that the tissues surrounding the calcium specks may be cancerous. IBreast

cancer is NOT the death sentence it was once thought to be. I had my surgery

over 16 yrs ago and I am doing fine. Mari's was 20 or 22 yrs ago.

Its normal to be scared. Fear of the unknown is the worst. There are all kinds

of chemo combos if you need chemo and lots of things to help you from getting

sick. Feel free to ask any questions you may have or just share your feelings.

We are all here for you. You will be in my prayers.

Hugs

Hi

I so sorry that this is happening to you. I know how scared I was when I was

first told. I

also had an 8cm and 3cm tumor.

Just make sure you ask lots of questions and become your own strongest advocate!

My best wishes and prayers for you.

My advice to you(as a somewhat newbie here too), start writing down all

the questions you want to ask. That way in the time of stress and also

how things " go in one ear and out the other " , you can have something to

look at to remember what you want to know. I always made sure I had

someone with me to hear what the doctor says as well. A second set of

ears helps alot. Take your list of questions to your surgeon on

Thursday. I am sure alot of girls here can help you with you list and

the important questions to ask. Hope that helps

Keep us posted

Hi ,

I know I'm late (as usual), but just take a deep breath. Learn all

you can, knowledge is power. My cancer was 22 years ago (I was 39) and

I'm here to tell you that there's life after having breast cancer! The

courageous ladies of this list are just what you need to help you travel

this road. They are such a wonderful, caring group of ladies.

Blessings, prayers and positive thoughts to all.

That kind of news doesn't ever feel good nor is it good. At least now you

know what you are dealing with. You will hear the message from many who will

tell you that " Breast cancer is not the death sentence that it once was. " And

that is true. However, when I was sitting where you are, it wasn't much

comfort. The fear of not knowing what was to come, the education of increasing

medical terminology, and so many other things just kept the whole unknown

factors circulating in my brain. We have been where you are and found support

here. You will, too. You will make it through this with God's help and our

help. Just breathe and take one thing at a time. An unknown person once said,

" I can do this one more time. I can do this one more day. " I don't think we

are ever asked to do more than that.

My prayers are already said for you.

Blessings to you,

Jan K
