Seeking Info On Children with Hypo...sorry Long

I have been posting here off and on for a couple of months. I am

newly diagnosised with hashimoto's and have only been dealing with

this since sept 2006 myself. I have found a wonderful doctor here in

minnesota who prescibed me armour thyroid and that alone has made a

HUGE difference in how I am feeling these days, my life is finally

coming back to me.

Now' i just noticed that my 9 year old daughter has a goiter, so i

took her with me today to see my endo. he agree'd to see her but

can't treat children and from a basic look over her, he said that he

is very concerned and wants her to see one of his collgues that

treats peiatrics, so she will see him on monday afternoon.

This is alot to handle seeing as I am still in the LEARNING stage...I

also have another daughter that is 4 years old that the doctor wants

me to test as well. And I already have a 14 year old son who has

type 1 diabetes. And we are the first ones in the family to have any

autoimmune problems and it just seems like its coming out in full

force...although no-one would admit to this but I suspect alot of

people in my family to have thyroid problems they just refuse to get

tested!

But back to why I was posting....Someone listed a website that had

information on kids with thyroid disorders, I believe it was a family

of 3 or 4 children that all had thyroid disorders...I am hoping to

find that link and any others regarding children.

I am very worried as I had many many problems with all of the

synthetic thyroid meds...and armour has been the only one that has

made me feel better, and from what I was told today...it's gonna be

hard to find a pedatric doc that will prescibe armour for a child

because they say they don't know the long term outcome. So any and

all info is welcome pertaining to children, as i wanna be prepared

come monday afternoon for her appointment. Thank you all as you have

already helped me so much, this is a wonderful group!

Well I can't tell you about the long term influence of Armour on chilldren but I have been taking it for over 30 years, even took it when I was pregnant the 3rd time and Naomi is just fine, so let's hope for the best.
