Anyone needing PRN paramedic help in the Central Texas Area?

Alright after 2 years working in the Middle East and a couple months of

being home taking Paramedic CE's and other Paramedic improvement

classes I am finally ready to go find something to do. I can't commit

to working more than a few days a month somewhere as I am finishing up

a CCEMTP course and have enrolled in a PNCCT course for the fall as

well as having already made plans for the 2 weeks my husband will be

home on R & R. But if someone is looking for PRN help I'd be

interested. I'm a TDSHS Paramedic and as well as a TDSHS EMS

Instructor with experience in both areas. If you could use an extra

hand or if you know of some place that could use an extra hand a couple

days a month (or more than a couple days a month)let me know.

I can now tell you from personal experience in dealing with Guardian, that (like

most private services) they definitely care more about making money, than they

do about their employees or their patients. While I understand that they are in

business to make a profit, making that profit at the expense of MORALITY,

INTEGRITY, and EMPLOYEE NEGLECT is completely unacceptable. When you divert a

dedicated 911 truck from an emergent call to run a non-emergency transfer, that

is WRONG on any level. While they will deny this, it has happened, thus

violating their contract with San Jacinto County.

They like to advertise the " benefits package " in their employment speech, but

they fail to mention that based on their pay scale, their employees are faced

with either choosing the benefits package or paying their bills. This is made

worse by them constantly cutting out any and all overtime. Low pay + No Overtime

= Dissatisfied Employees & Low Moral. And don't believe the Education

Assistance/Reimburs ement deal either, it does not exist. Guardian does not

understand the age old adage " If you take care of your employees, your employees

will take care of you " .

I currently do. I work in Madison County.

experinced people on here talking about Guardian who

have never worked for them. They just go by what they

happen to hear.

In case you're wondering, I complained to Joe Fowler and Ricky about

Guardians poor treatment of their employees, and their complete disregard for

the contract in my county (San Jac), and was suspended and ultimately terminated

for it. Anyway, tell Kuler I said hello, and ya'll stay safe out there.

You know, I worked for Guardian for almost 2 years. Yes, it has its

problems, but you show me an EMS service that doesn't. I loved the

people I worked with and I wasn't fired with disagreeing about

something with the company. Perhaps you just didn't approach Ricky

the right way. I always found him to be a really nice guy. Not trying

to start anything, and everyone has their opinions, but you just seem

to keep dogging them.

Charlene,

I don't know in which county you worked for them (and I'm not trying to start an

argument), but it obviously was not the same one I was in. I have always

believed in standing up for what you believe in, and what is right, even if it

cost. When I see an EMS company putting profits above their employees, patients,

and contracts, that is wrong on any level. You are correct, all services have

their problems, but I (and a lot of other people) see Guardian as another Gold

Star. Guardian has good people and great medics working for them, but the ones

that I know personally, are still with Guardian because of their dedication to

their chosen profession and the citizens they serve, not because Guardian is

such a great place to work.

Colorado County EMS has PRN positions and a full time position

available. Not trying to out do anyone else, but I feel we are an up

and coming service with changes in patient protocols, securing new

equipment, and even building new stations in the areas we serve. Our

staff has help establish FR programs in our remote areas and the

interest is growing to the point that EMT classes are constantly

asked for.

We are a full service EMS meaning 9-1-1 and emergency facility-to-

facility transports and in county care. The recent calls we have

been tasked with are not for the average medic and demands a top

notch, on the bean, out side the box thinking individual at all cert

levels. 3 major roadways, a river, ag and hunting and a diverse

under 55 and over 65 demographics that will challenge the most

seasoned medic. GDEM has now task CCEMS with medical coverage for a

designated special needs refueling stop in our county.

The main city in Colorado County is Columbus.? I believe that Eagle Lake is also

in Colorado County.?? Columbus is at the intersection of State Highway 71 and

I-10.? It's between Austin and Houston.
