I am hypo on Armour 240 mg a day. Take Iodoral 25 mg a day, selenium -

400 mg a day and calcium( not sure how much, but 2 a day with vit.

d).

I know that I need to have my Free t " s but the doctor didn't do them

this time. But he said my TSH was 0.01 and I had to much thyroid meds

in me and to wean them down and go see a endo - he will not treat me

since I self med and he can't control it. I also had a ECG done and

he said I need to go to a Cardiologist - which my appt. is tomorrow.

He said my heart is stopping a few seconds and it does it way to much.

I thought the TSH is supposed to be low like it it...maybe I am

wrong. Could someone tell me??

I feel ok, except I am having some blood pressure issues - high, have

meds for this and alot of numbness in my hands. Some small chest

pains also.

Some of this might just be from stressing over this heart thing.

Thanks,

Mari

Armour does supress the TSH..unfortunately with out the Free's it is

really hard to tell if your TSH is supressed because you are hyper,

or if your TSH is supressed because of the Armour.

Armour is a natural form of T4 and T3. You need to have the FT4 and

FT3 run at a bare minimum.

The heart thing definitely needs to be looked at but do realize there

is a big connection between thyroid and heart..after all the heart is

a muscle and uses thyroid hormone to regulate the beats, strength

etc. being the most important muscle though the body has a way of

slowing down other functions and directing most of the resources to

keep the heart beating.

As a general rule and I say general because genetics and other heart

conditions means not everyone fits the pattern..

Hypo means high cholesterol, high blood pressure and low pulse.

Hyper means low cholesterol, normal blood pressure and high pulse.

When hypo and on proper medications and proper dosing for one's self

using the blood pressure and cholesterol will lower and the pulse

will rise..

When hyper and at a proper level, pulse will lower, cholesterol will

rise to normal.

Your heart does need to be looked at by a specialist though.. for

some the damage can be done, for others they can stop and reverse the

damage, and for others it is not related to thyroid..

I know my mom after RAI suddenly developed high blood pressure, high

cholesterol and needed reading glasses.. 3 months after getting her

thyroid levels at a good range for herself, she was taken off all the

cholesterol meds, blood pressure meds and uses her glasses more as a

paper wieght. Now my mom is a little different, RAI is an immediate

drop to hypo..it was not a slow progression over time, and once she

was at the right med level for her her body healed a lot quicker as

it was not allowed to hang hypo for a long time.

This said about the heart..

You say you are hypo on 240mg of Armour?

What symptoms do you have?

Basal temperature?

What is your resting pulse?

How are you splitting up your dose?

How do your heart symptoms coincide during the time of day? After

meds? Before meds?

When are you taking the calcium?

How long have you been taking Iodoral?

There is a few here that do the self medications.

What I would like to see though so we can help you better is a daily

chart..for a day or two...

Example..

6 am..basal pulse.

7 am..list meds..

food..

symptoms..

8 am meds..

symptoms..

Also list general symptoms that do not coincide with time..hair

falling out, dry skin, acne? Tired..not sleeping, tired..but always

sleeping?

You might be stressing.. yes....

As far as the TSH low.. that is generally a good thing, especially for

those with Hashi's, thyroid cancer or who have no gland.. BUT you must

know what your Free Ts are to be sure that it's a suppressed TSH but that

you are not actually hyper.... the goal is three-fold, low TSH, proper

levels of Frees, and reduction of symptoms...

Poop on the doc for not wanting to work with you... if he were to take

the correct tests, determine what is going on and then go from there all

would be well..but to just turn his back cuz he's not the one in total

control... well.... poop from a LARGE dog.
