Guest guest
March 23, 2007 Dear Coalition Members, We had a very successful effort in the House. Eighteen Congresspersons from 10 different states have signed the letter requesting increased funding for the deafblind technical assistance and dissemination program at the Department of Education. What is even more impressive is that the Coalition heard back from over 200 of you, and contacts were made with 104 congressional offices. In addition to the Congresspersons who signed the letter, we got expressions of support from members of the committee who could not sign the letter and from others who did not sign the letter but promised to support the effort. That is a great showing for such a low incidence population. This is the most up-to-date list of Congresspersons who have signed on: 1. Ed Markey- MA 2. Tammy Baldwin – WI 3. Mike Capuano - MA 4. Conyers - MI 5. Delahunt – MA 6. Barney – MA 7. Gene Green - TX 8. Raúl Grijalva – AZ 9. Jefferson - LA 10. - GA 11. Lynch – MA 12. Meehan - MA 13. McGovern – MA 14. Jerrold Nadler – NY 15. Neal - MA 16. Roskam- IL 17. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen - FL 18. Tierney- MA We are beginning a similar effort in the Senate. Watch for more details early next week. Betsy Betsy L.
