Guest guest
JEFF, You may remember from reading my other posts that my whole family (my father, mother and two sisters) are all HYPOthyroid, while I deal with Graves and HYPERthyroidism. It's very strange. They are all "normal" weight--actually a little on the low side--while I struggle with being overweight and work hard to lose weight. HOWEVER, my cholesterol level (total) is an amazing 132, while my sisters and parents struggle to get their's below 200. Skinny people don't necessarily have great cholosterol levels. By looking at my own family, I can see where this could be hereditary. I am having my oldest son checked (he's 14) because of his sluggishness. I will know next week what his labs are. I keep a close eye on all my boys because my husband's parents and siblings are diabetic and my family has thyroid problems. It all deals with endocrinology, so at least ONE doctor can manage all this. Keep a watch on the symptoms of your children and ask the questions you know to ask regarding thyroid issues. I suspect that my older brother may have hypo because it is difficult for him to lose weight and he just recently got diagnosed with hegh blood pressure and diabetes, both of which runs in our family. My older sister lucked out but then, I got the nasty diseases from both sides of my family. But, I am not a professional and my bro would not ask his doctor for more bloodwork than he has to have now. I haven't read anything about Grave's because my doctor hasn't said anything about that. However, he did mention hashi's but, he made it sound like it's just a temporary thing like an infection which is a little confusing to me because from all the research I have been doing it's permanent. On another note I spent 2 and 1/2 hours being infused today for a psoriasis treatment and having blood drawn periodically so they could measure the medication going through my system. And I got to have blood taken again tomorrow morning.Have a good night everyone,Robin- In The_Thyroid_Support_Group , "Jeff Wade" wrote:>> Just read Shomon's article on Graves and 10 Things to Know.
