My daugher has been on hydrocortisone for a few months and slowly introduced the armour. She's not been able to move up the dose at all. She really just cannot tolerate armour. Guest guest Posted March 19, 2007 Report Share Posted March 19, 2007 I've had a bad problem with T4 (Synthroid and the clones) when I first started.. but did really well with Armour and many of it's generics.... Can I ask some questions? What was her starting dose of the Armour, and is it Armour brand? Is she taking it all in one dose? Is she taking it on an empty tummy or with food? How long has she been on the Armour? Is she sensitive in any way to other pills? What is her reaction when she takes it? How soon do the negative symptoms hit after she doses? How long do the symptoms last in relation to the dose? It might be she's reacting to something in the Armour (one of the tableting agents), in that case a different brand might help... It might be that the dose is too high for what her body is able to process, in that case it would be lowering the dose for a while or splitting the dose and spreading it out to 2 or more times per day so that there is less hormone introduced to her system at one time... It might be that the T3 in the Armour is aggravating her adrenals, there is already something going on with them with the use of the hydrocortisone... there it might be that she can't handle T3 at all or needs to split the dosage to reduce the amount of T3 introduced to her system at a given time.... It could be her body just doesn't like it and would do better on synthetic... if we can pick through this a bit maybe we can see some clues as to what is going on.... Oh... how old is she?? What is her diagnosis, her reason for being hypo and needing replacement thyroid hormone? How each of reacts to the different types of hormone (natural or synthetic or combo) is very individual, if you have trouble with one it might mean you need the other or a combo... it's more challenging to figure out, but worth the time....
