Guest guest
My left arm has a look of a " war zone " ! (because I scratched it too much!)I think the doctors told me that it's gonna itch because I have high sugars! Also, the sweating I go thru, which is NOT that much fun..(I honestly hate to sweat!) is also when I have high blood sugars...and for the longest time, (many years before diagnoses) I thought that I was having either menopause early, and or I was just MORE hot than other people out in the sun, and or it was because I was drinking way too much Chai Tea! LOL! I also had the itchy back...right between the shoulder blades, and let me say, it is a pain when it just doesn't stop itching! Anybody go thru those Terrible itchies, alot, or have yoour blood sugars settled down already? luvscoco99
Guest guest
I still get an itchy back between the shoulder blades. My doctor told me it was contact dermatitis from my bra strap. Have you been told otherwise? She prescribed me a cortisone cream but I rarely use it - I don't want to put cortisone in my body so I just kind of deal with it. Some days its fine other days I can't scratch enough. Meena
Guest guest
Meena, I have had a problem with back itching for over 10 years now. I haven't thought to ask the doctor about it, but I've attributed it to back acne due to sweating, being closed up in cloth all the time, oil from my long hair, etc. My latest remedy has been to use a facial acne wash, and then have my husband put a quality moisturizer on my back. It does help. I guess in effect taking the bad oils out and putting the good oils in. In a message dated 8/4/2006 10:06:39 A.M. Hi Meena, I get the itchy back in the same place and sometimes all the way down the center of my back. I've had it for years, before being diagnosed. I still have it occasionally and I don't have high bg's, so I don't associate it with diabetes. hugs Eunice
Guest guest
I'm itchy somewhere on my body at all times. It's not so bad right now - it's bearable - but 2 years ago, long before I was diagnosed, it was AWFUL. I was scratching constantly, and nothing helped. I spent the day of my wedding fighting madly not to scratch. I think a great deal of that was due to high sugars, and then exacerbated by a pest problem we had at the time that took us a good 6 months to finally get a handle on. Guest guest
I don't have acne or excessive sweating. So I don't think those remedies would work for me. I dunno. Meena

Now it doesn't so much. But it worries me that you talk about sweating as if it also is a symptom of high BS -- I am miserable this summer! Sweating if it gets over 80 -- which isn't all that hot! And of course if I do any exercising at all ... I have little rivers all over me. Does that ever get better just by getting the BS under control, or is losing weight also necessary? (I'm trying, it's just not coming off very fast) Kate

Guest guest
Luvscoco99, I was born and raised in Baltimore. I agree it is hot and humid there. I left and went to Texas then Mississippi then Florida then to Turkey in the desert. All of them were to hot, some humid and some dry. I really did not like the heat. I moved to upstate central New York. Now it has been to hot here for the past three weeks. The only comfort is that come October we will see the white stuff SNOW then I will be happy. I have lived here for 46 years and love it. All my children move south to a hotter climate, go figure? S Wilkinson, Rome, New York Re: Re: Itchy Back and lovely little spots! Ask at your local pharmacy if you're not in the UK, they may have something similar. Have a look at http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100004774.html -- Take care.
