Guest guest
Hi I am not on Arimidex now but was two years ago. I took it for about 3 years.Yes all the symptoms of joint pain, insomnia, reduced apetite, no headaches though and yes they did lessen except for the insomnia ~ timescale, probably more than three months, more like 5 - 6. But a big part of this is acceptance of the effects, you just tolerate it more as you go along, quite where the mental processes and the drug settling cross over is anyone's guess. I am stage IV so put up with more off the side effects because my disease has already spread and need to take anything that will hold it off. Something else I was told that may interest you is that my tumour markers are measured fairly frequently and each time the tumour markers have been done bang on three months when the drug (whichever drug I am on) is reaching it's most effectiveness, it's peak, so it will take at least three months for all the side effects to appear, then the body starts to deal with them. This probably isn't the best news for you but I think you should stay with it and take something to relieve the symptons because it certainly was a good drug for me and could be for you. Hope this is of some help, Velvet (UK) linda_cckbrn@...> wrote: I will be starting Arimidex in the next few months..was told by my onc that the side effects lesson after 3 months..Is there anyone on Arimidex that has been on it for longer than 3 months ? how are you feeling right now? Guest guest
Started out with Tamoxifin in Dec 2002 and then in Oct 2003 switched to Arimidex...with Tamoxifin I was getting the swelling in the feet and leg cramps... and also weight gain. On Arimidex not much leg cramps and swelling...but still weight gain.. Have to be careful of the bone loss...have to take calcium two times a day...still get tired. but for the most I am ok... Guest guest
Hi - I did take Arimidex for 4 months - but unfortunately couldn't take it any longer than that. I had most of the side effects associated with it, bone pain being the one that I just couldn't tolerate. I've switched to Tamoxifin and have only been on it for a little less than two months, so the jury's still out on that - I am hopeful though. There are several other women in here who've tried Arimidex and had problems but I believe there are a few who still continue to take it and are okay. I hope they can give you better news. Each person reacts differently though - it's worth giving it a chance. Hugs!
