Here's the latest update concerning the Regulatory Division of DSHS:

The Exchange Building in Austin, which houses DSHS Regulatory programs, is

closed due to flooding from a water pipe break early June 13 which caused some

structure damage.

Recovery efforts are continuing. The building will remain closed until

damage is assessed and reopening is approved by city and state officials. More

definitive information about reoccupancy is pending. Regulatory staff are

continuing limited operations from other locations, but they do not have access

to regulatory records and have limited or delayed access to mail and

e-mail.

Calls: Exchange Building phones and fax machines are not working. Callers

to main Regulatory program numbers will be directed to call to

reach a temporary operations center.

Licenses: If you have a certification or license that is due to expire and

have submitted your required documentation and payment, your certification or

license will not lapse.

Complaints/Reports: If you need to file a complaint against a DSHS licensee

or certificant about a harmful or threatening situation, or if you need to

report a possible public health threat, please call .

This notice will be updated as information warrants.

Please note:

The EMS regional offices are operational and can address many of your needs,

however the Central compliance staff has been displaced. We are attempting

to address all of your concerns as soon as possible. NO Certification will

be allowed to expire if you apply prior to your expiration. Any Initial

candidate needing verification of certification for employment should contact

us

at the number listed in the update above or send me an e-mail to me at

_maxie.bishop@..._ (mailto:maxie.bishop@...) I

appreciate your patience and we hope to be fully functional soon.

Maxie Bishop, LP, State EMS Director

Office of EMS and Trauma Services
