Guest guest
First, thank you for your responses to my earlier post, it really helped. I met with the surgeon yesterday, who within a 15 minute time frame, looked at the mammogram and ultrasound pictures I brought in, examined me and read the radiologist's report. He said to wait six months and have another ultrasound. My only risk factor is that I have not given birth to a child. (I have a 4 year old daughter, the light of my life who came to us through adoption from China). He said the fact that there have been aunts and cousins who have been diagnosed pre-menopause is not a factor in my case. I'm not sure I can wait six months. There's quite a bit going on around here and I really don't need the added stress. He was highly recommended by both my Gynocologist and the Radiologist. Am I overreacting? Or is this the norm? Thanks in NJ
Guest guest
Hi , i guess if they told you to wait 6 months is because they don't find anything wrong, right? Guest guest
, You are not over reacting. I would not wait 6 mo. I would either insist he do something or go to a breast specialist for a second opinion. I will keep you in my prayers. Guest guest
, I agree with nne, go with your natural instincts, which I believe is that you do not want to wait 6 months.. For for a 2nd or even a 3rd opinion.. I know its very time consuming, but this is your life... I don't believe it someone going for opinions just to hear what they want to hear (being the opposite of what is visibly true) but I do think you should have some comparisons and then maybe even go back to your primary care of gyn to discuss the options then presented. Best of Luck, keep me posted, Love MIchele & nne Svihlik moochie1@...> wrote: , You are not over reacting. I would not wait 6 mo. Guest guest
Hi , I assume you were sent for a surgical consult for a reason. Perhaps a second opinion is warrented. Guest guest
Get a biopsy! Due to my dense breasts, my tumor didn't show up on mammogram or sonogram when I first felt it. I waited 6 months, as per their instructions, and then it still didn't show up on mammogram, but the ultrasound showed something " unusual " . It's not hard to do a biopsy, so pester them until they do it. About 3% of all breast cancers don't show up on mammogram or sonogram, until they are Very Big. Oh, now I know. Take care, Ruffing Grade 3, Stage IIIA, ER/PR+, HER2 neg, 4.9 cm and 5 nodes positive Chemo and radiation completed 9/28/06 Mastectomy, no reconstruction ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ The fish are biting.
