Guest guest
Hi nne, I'm not sure if " drive-thru " mastectomies are against the law everywhere. I had my mastectomy on 11/22/06 and they wanted me to go home the same day. I told them, in advance, that I lived alone and had no one to take care of me. I know the reason for this was because I had no insurance and was being covered by NHmedicaid (or medicare) I get the 2 confused. But they most certainly wanted me home the same day, but I wouldn't allow it. I knew my BF could watch me but I felt if something went wrong I was a 45 minute drive to my hospital. Nope.....wasn't gonna do it!! Would you??? The whole thing is a shame! Some women don't have the courage to fight for what is right for them when it comes to medical attention. This country is messed up!! I am ALL for socialized medicine. I am not trying to start any debate here, I am just letting you know what happened to me and how I feel. peace................kimmy > > Wow 5-10 days. Back in 1990 when I had my mastectomy I was in for 2 1/2 days. They were at one time doing what was a called a " drive through mastectomy " . You went home the same day. But if I remember right that is against the law now. At least here in Illinois. > Hugs > nne > Breast Cancer Patients Soul Mates for Life > http://www.geocities.com/chucky5741/breastcancerpatients.html > BreastCancerStories.com > http://www.breastcancerstories.com/content/view/433/161/ > Angel Feather Loomer > www.angelfeatherloomer.blogspot.com > Check out my other ornaments at > www.geocities.com/chucky5741/bcornament.html > Lots of info and gifts at: > www.cancerclub.com > Re:mastectomy on right breast /Question for group > > > Wow they sent you home after one day?
