Hi Carol,

I know I am late catching up on my emails but thought I would add my

2 cents.

I had a left mastectomy, NO node involvement, IDC and DCIS present in

both breasts. No chemo, no rads due to complete mastectomy.

I was told, from now on....no blood work, no blood pressure, nothing

is to be taken from my left arm. Not even pin pricks in my left

fingers. All these things can trigger lymphedema. sooo....I'm not

taking any chances!!! My GOOD veins have always been in my left

arm...now the nurse has to " hunt " for them in my right arm, but oh

well, I'd rather have a " bad stick " than lymphedema.

Hope this helped answer your question, even if it was a few days late!

peace........kimmy

If I could add my 2 cents as well, everyone think for a minute, if we have a

mastectomy, there are nodes involved when they remove the breast. Our breast

goes from front all the way around to the back of our shoulder where they remove

tissue. There is definitely going to be node removal just from the masectomy

alone. Makes ya think huh?

Love
