It's something I need to do..develop a support group. I would really enjoy meeting folks of differeing walks of life or life styles or whatever - people outside my " norm. But no, the name is derived from the same place the group took it's name from: Herman Hesse's book " The steppen Wolf. " Something tells me you know who he is.... I probably could use some local diabetes support info if you know of any - ways to or financial assistance with test strips or free testing and all that jazz, should it exist.. Guest guest
Bob, Until a bit more then 2 years ago, I was the steppenwolf. I have herd of the book, but never knew what it really was about. I just googled it and have more insight into the novel. Although I am not into reading novels, this one seems a bit interesting. If you had not already, go ahead and email Rhonda about the devoted diabetes group we are in. As for supplies, do you have health insurance or do you pay out of pocket for your supplies? There is a diabetes Center just downt the street where we live in katy that I have been attending lately. I changed endos and this center has many speicalists as well as PCP's, Optomatrists too. Only the dentist is missing. I get all my prescriptions and refills through Merck Medco through the mail, for a 3 month supply each time. This way it costs less then getting them on a monthly basis. steppen_wolf67226 rhewett@...> wrote: > > Hi Bob, I am in Katy, aabout 30 miles west of Houston, thought it seems a bit less when I go to work in Houston. Guest guest
, The first book I ever read that I completel identified with was " catcher in the rye " - interestingly, I had completely and fully erased any school reading or analysis of the book. At the age of 30 I read that and it flipped a switch. I had more time to read due to my divorce and basic apathy toward anything I once enjoyed in terms of socially acceptable (still enjoyed loud metal, jamming the blues on my six string and staying out all hours of the night drinking and checking out the ladies...) Among the various books I had stacked up to read, Hesse's steppen wolf caught me at some point. I realized in reading this book, that I did not know what I was talking about when I thought catcher in the rye identified me. It was but one and not even a significant aspect of my character. The character is forced to face reality.. I can tell you that I have walked thru that elusive door " for madmen only " and faced myself in the mirror. I have snarled at society and have been roped in by the strippers, the preachers, the politicians and the academics... lol... well, I've been called " deep " but that not true....lol I do not have insurance..in fact, I'm uncertain that reporting to my insurance company is the right thing to do. Assume for the moment, if you would, that I have no access to insurance from employers. What advice would you have to lower the cost of vitamins, supplements and testing strips and anything else that I haven't listed but may be essential for the diabetic affected? And thanks... Yes, I have joined the texas group - lovely...(Can we find some single women for me to share my woes with ? lol) You guys sound great. Can't wait for a meet and greet. > > > > Hi Bob, I am in Katy, aabout 30 miles west of Houston, thought it > seems a bit less when I go to work in Houston. And I see you are a > steppenwolf fan. Guest guest
Hi Sue., I'm just back from the east coast (NC) so now we are even! :-) I do need to develop more friends. Been a loner for such a long time, now realizing how much I am suffering and have suffered from it. Also, it seems as if I could benefit a group or groups individuals whatever from time to time.. So, thank you .. Sincerely, Hewett RHEWETT@... _____ From: diabetes [mailto:diabetes ] On Behalf Of Sue Nicholson Sent: Friday, August 04, 2006 10:25 PM To: diabetes Subject: Re: Into: Me - newbie!!
