I craved chocolate in the womb! It's been a lifelong battle, but I've been off it now for 4 months and the cravings are gone. The only way to get rid of them is to stop eating it. I think there is a hormone connection there too, because since I quit eating all recreational sugars, including chocolate, my hot flashes and night sweats disappeared! Dropping 25 pounds didn't hurt either... Judy

I do have one question about cravings - CHOCOLATE!

Don't pick lemons.

Jeff:

The chocolate boosts the seratonin metabolism in the

brain..which is dependent on thryoid hormone.

I had a chocolate run myself last night..

Day after day, day after day,

We stuck, nor breath nor motion;

As idle as a painted ship

Upon a painted ocean.

Water, water, everywhere,

And all the boards did shrink;

Water, water, everywhere,

Nor any drop to drink.

~The Ancient Mariner

I wonder if chocolate is more of an ingredient problem like calcium deficiency. Taking more calcium cleared up my cravings.... wierd huh?? Now if I could just find a pill for enlightenment or salt, I'd be fine LOL.

That's interesting. I do take calcium every day and my labs were solid. I've never heard that, so thanks. I'm not going to test it out though. I can have pure cocoa and I put some in my protein shake, but my recreational chocolate days are over!... Judy

I am in 12 step for my food addictions and chocolate is number one, so it's a thing of the past. No worries here!

some people crave chocolate because of magnesium defiency.

Magnesium

Essential during the formation of nerves, it plays a role in synaptic

transmission (communication between neurons). A good magnesium balance

contributes to the equilibrium of the central nervous system.

in order to help me stave off choc. cravings i take mag... also after

supper i have a fat free suger free choc. pudding. i make it with fat

free milk. that way i have a treat everyday and it keeps me from

binging.
