Guest guest
I had my visit with my oncologist today and told him that all the information I have read about HER 2 is that 20-25% of women have it, but it seemed as if I was running into more women here at the Mc Cancer Center who had it and were taking Herceptin. He agreed and I asked him if there was something in the water that was making more women positive and we both laughed. He said that it has only been recently (5 years) that they have been testing for HER 2 and that is the reason why more women are HER 2 positive. I told him that it appears as if the community needs to readjust their figures and he agreed. If that is the case, then I feel very comfortable not being in the small percentages of women who tested positive. I mean " safety in numbers " . Are most of you on here HER 2 positive? Guest guest
Hi Anita, I'm her2+,er/pr- Maybe you run into more her2 plus women at the center because we spend more time there between chemo + herceptin! Most early stage er/pr+ women don't need chemo. And later stage er/pr+,her2- and er/pr-,her2+ women are done with chemo and other IV treatment sooner since they don't need a year of herceptin. -
