Incredible joint & bone pain, actually to the crippling point and I began to look beefed up like a guy including black facial hair and the hot flashes were really huge. I had no idea the Femara was the culprit until my Onc told me. She switched me to tamoxifen and I still have " regular " hot flashes (which I hate, but they're doable) and the weight gain (mine enormous) But, that's it! I'm absolutely fine with tamoxifen now that I know what Femara is like. :-) hugs, Dari
Guest guest
So far I have not really had any side effects and the weight gain that I have had so far seems to have occured during the time of my surgery and the time that I was waiting for the results of the oncotype DX test. I also gained some weight during the rad treatment as pasta was something that I wanted to eat then. Now that I am free of that I can exercise again! ne > > In a message dated 1/25/2007 8:47:48 PM Central Standard Time, > eileenmp2000@... writes: > > > I hear from you and other > > people that it causes weight gain. Guest guest
No. You are doing the right think not taking it. There is no evidence that tamoxifen works for ER-neg BC to prevent recurrences or overall survival. There are many health risks involved in taking tamoxifen so, unless it is ER+, the recommendation is not to take it. Now, the only other possible reason for ER neg patients to take tamoxifen is if the doctors are worried about secondary BC due to predisposition (genetic, family, etc). Then the usage is preventative and not actual treatment. I hope I helped. Hugs Re: Re: Tamoxifen questions-again if i am er- then do i need to take tamoxifen?
