Guest guest
Hi! I know how to deal with people who are unsupportive, but how do you deal with the people who are trying to be " helpful " and give too much advice? My sister is an RN (home hospise nurse) and is always (and has always in the past)giving advice I don't want. I do what my doctor tells me and I have lost 23 pounds so far, but Sis is always coming at me with a " new diet " (usually some fad diet) or something else I " shouldn't eat " . (the latest was Splenda) I try to be nice about it but sometimes I get a little short with her. I also have this problem with a woman at church who is a nurse practioner. The best advice I recieve is from other diabetics or those who cook for family who is. I try to tell these " do gooders " what I am doing and what the doctor has said but it goes in one ear and out the other. My only way to deal with these people at this point is avoidence, but I love my Sister in spite of herself. Thanks for letting me " vent " and I would like to hear what others do when it comes to this type of people.
