Guest guest
Heath; As I understand it (and this is from my VERY shaky memory : ) Herceptin is an antibody that attaches itself to the cells and hopefully does one of two things; 1) shuts down the cell division (stops it cold) or 2) targets the cells for destruction by your own immune system - I think this is right. Herceptin is made by Genetech (?) or something like that...they have better explanations than mine on their website. I'd just google it (what did we all DO before google??? : ) as herceptin + purpose or something like that. This stuff is next for me, too. Hope this helps... - Jen in Alabama : ) Heath wrote: Thank you so much for the insight. We are off to the oncologist today for the third chemo tx. She is on taxol and doxil right now. I honestly don't know if it's the proper protocol. We are going to UCLA as soon as we can get in. What exactly is herceptin? Thanks again, Heath
Guest guest
Jen, I asked the oncologist about it yesterday. It's for HR+ bc. Tam's is triple negative at this point, so it's not applicable. Thank you for the information. I know, I can't believe people ever lived b.g., before google. Take care. Guest guest
Thank you, Lily. Tam is triple negative, so HERCEPTIN isn't appropriate. I asked the oncologist yesterday. We'll keep learning and keep trying.
