One of my all time favorite books and a “must read” for everyone is “THE GIVER.”

it had a profound effect on the way I see everyday life.

it’s actually labeled “teen” or juvenile” fiction but it’s not —

it’s an award winning book about the idea of a perfect society where there is no

disease, no imperfections and everyone is held accountable.

Jobs are assigned and the main theme is about a boy who comes of age and takes on the his role/job at

12 years old and what he learns about life, society, and his own ‘family’ is quite shocking.

the author is Lois Lowry and she wrote two books to complement THE GIVER:

Gathering Blue and The Messenger, both also incredible books.

THE GIVER is the one book I recommend to everyone who asks “read any good books lately?”

The Giver is my all time favorite book too. I first read it when I

was 11 and loved it. Since then I have reread it 4 times (I am 23

now). It is just an awesome story. I didn't know that there were

sequels or prequels. Although I don't know that I want to read them.

I don't want them to ruin The Giver for me. I like The Giver by

itself.

Some other great reads are The Chronicles of Narnia (all 7 books).

Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg is nice

easy read and much better than the movie. I love just about

everything by Barbara Kingsolver. The one I like the most by her is

The Poisonwood Bible. It is about a baptist family that goes to the

Belgian Congo as missionaries and their struggles. Each chapter is

from the point of view of a different family member and there are 6

people in the family.

Sorry I couldn't keep it to just one book.
