Guest guest
Thank you to everyone who sent well wishes I am soooo relieved at this point..I am dancing today.. Kathie, I requested that my oncologist put in a request with the group she has to ask for permission from me to submit my tumor pathology sample....She has my pathology stored at Scripps La Jolla here in California where I had my double mastectomy in June 2006.. my tumor is stored in a wax cube.. and they sent it to Oncotype DX for gene profiling.. I sent the request on January 15th and my results were in her office on Jan 25th... There are a couple of clinical trials going on as well.. I was ER+ PR+ Her2- with no previous chemo..around 6 months out from surgery.. I did not want to take the Arimidex that the doc was saying I should.. Now I told her that I will give her at least 6 months.. she had to do a lot of coaxing for that.. don't want the side effects.. and my copay for that drug after insurance was $150.00 a month.. not sure it was worth it.. Now with the test results she says she would not be mad at me if I chose to go off of the drug.. I had received a brochure somehow in the mail.. and just followed up on it.. I have group insurance with husbands work as well as medicare from disability so it was at No cost to me.. the test is $3500.00 but in the long run I will be saving that in Chemo cost.. They do have a website at WWW.OncotypeDX.com I think.. if not do a google search?? Hope you can do the same, Good luck Cheryl
