Guest guest
hmmmm...I just recently turned 30. Could it have to do with too much estrogen? My doc has me taking progesterone before my periods because I have "estrogen dominance". I hate it - it makes my bra so uncomfortable! dawn prince wrote: hi,i read the other day, sorry cant remember the source, that abdominal roll in women usually occurs around menopause due to the hormonal change. mine started at that time and nothing seems to move it but then at my age i find that feeling well is so much better and no longer worry about the weight.dawn cdn> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone,> > > > > > > > > > > > This time, I'm writing about the weight I've> > gained from becoming Hypo and> > > taking Cortef for my adrenals. Guest guest
I read something about estrogen dominance and thryoid testing once. Something about which tests are affected by it and which are not. Does anyone remember this. I'll see if I can find it... Judy hmmmm...I just recently turned 30. Guest guest
too much progesterone is known to cause bloat, hands down. sue hmmmm...I just recently turned 30. Guest guest
But I've been reading the opposite - that too much estrogen causes bloating/water retention, heavy periods, and fatigue. The progesterone counteracts it and reduces fluid retention, as well as moodiness and increases libido. It's what my doc told me, and it's in the book "Living Well With Hypothyroidism" by Shomon and "Hormones, Health, and Happiness" by Hotze. Where did you get your info, Sue? Thanks! Guest guest
You are absolutely right, , and the info on "bad" news is on synthetic progesTINS, which are synthetic hormones that cause all these problems. The blood clots, moodiness, etc......That site is very subtle in that they hem-ha around about the very large differences in natural progesterone and progestins. It is the BALANCE of progesterone (our own or natural) to estrogen that is the big clue. Progesterone tempers the deleterious effects of unBRIDLED estrogens. The progesterone cream is good also, but I can't take what's recommended on the labels of most of the good ones, 40 mgs. My upper limit is 20 mgs, evidently, even though my body no longer makes any progesterone at all. The 40 mgs puts me to sleep for way too long, with a hung over feeling. Everyone probably has their own individual amt that they can tolerate. I think that those sites who make these bad claims against natural progesterone are either not in the know, or they are pushing pharma sales of it made synthetically. Otherwise, none of us ladies would live to see our 18th birthdays, if these lying claims were really true. I use the Serrati Progesterone Cream, half dose. Guest guest
I've heard the same as you .. and when I started on the Progesterone cream the first time (I do it at 'half dose' and mostly during the summer months, it helps me tolerate summer heat better and reduce my sweating) I was having the most interesting thoughts about the cute UPS guy.... some of you may remember that.... I stop the cream in the fall and I'm still not sweating excessively during the winter months, even though the house is still kept too warm... By excessive I mean soaked back of shirt and face dripping from doing as simple a task as washing dishes... Topper () On Fri, 2 Mar 2007 19:38:06 -0800 (PST) " J. Guest guest
did you get my link ? I also heard it from the woman who does my hair analysis, she is a nutritionist into natural healing. TWO of the ways to tell you are taking TOO much progesterone are BLOAT and tiredness. sue Progesterone can also cause bloating, breast tenderness, weight gain, headache, moodiness and irregular vaginal bleeding. Progestegens can cause some medical conditions to worsen examples are asthma, heart failure, epilepsy and migraine headache. Natural progesterone tends to have fewer side effects. http://www.menopause-online.com/progestins.htm sue But I've been reading the opposite - that too much estrogen causes bloating/water retention, heavy periods, and fatigue. Guest guest
No - I didn't get your link...thanks, Sue! I take natural progesterone pills (my doc prescibed them and they're from www.Womens InternationalPharmacy.com. I think they've helped me more than anything...reduces my water retention and moodiness around my period. My mood swings were pretty severe. It does calm me and make me sleepy, so I take it before bedtime. So, I guess it's a matter of finding the right balance.
