Guest guest
I have my first A/C treatment on Monday and was wondering how others did. I just want to be prepared for when things happen, I can think, " Oh, yeah! I heard about this! " . I will try not to worry about it so much that it WILL happen, but just want to be prepared. I also realize everyone reacts differently. Thank you, fellow travellers! Ellie --------------------------------- Cheap Talk? Check out Yahoo! Messenger's low PC-to-Phone call rates. Guest guest
I had my first A/C treatment 2 weeks ago...it's fresh in my mind. It wasn't bad at all! I napped a lot the first 4 days, didn't have much appetite, sort of the way you feel when you're getting over the flu. Since then I've felt great!!! Actually, my energy level has been better than it's been in a long time! My hair stayed with me until a few days ago, and I'm shaving off the final little bits this morning. (Perhaps I should mention that I haven't had surgery yet, so people who had surgery first may have a different response) Good luck, and I'll be thinking about you, Lucinda in VA

Guest guest
The best avice I got was from Sue reagan. She said to chew on ice while getting the 5-FU. I go by Sonic and get a large drink and take it with me.It helps prevent the mouth sores. I haven't had any and have had 3 treatments. Also the suggestion about drinking tons of water is so true. I only have really one bad day and it get better each day. Be sure to eat before going also. Something light. My Daughter-in-law makes baked potatoes for lunch and I go for treatment right after. Take care and know it will be so worth it. > > I have my first A/C treatment on Monday and was wondering how others did. I just want to be prepared for when things happen, I can think, " Oh, yeah! Guest guest
Hi, I had my Chemo scheduled 3 weeks apart and with my first A/C treatment I remember not feeling sick on the first day. I had my Chemo scheduled on a Thursday because I figured that I could take Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday to recoup if necessary. I woke up at 2:30 AM Friday morning with a burst of energy and I cleaned the house from stem to stern (except where people were sleeping) and washed and iron clothes. I felt terrific until about 6:30 PM that evening. I started getting nauseus and threw up. Then I went to bed and couldn't sleep well. I had a headache and stomach sickness. I remained that way until Sunday morning when I told my husband to call the doctor to prescribe something. He did and those pills were very expensive. I took one and threw up about an hour later, but over all I felt slightly better and went to work. When I met my oncologist 2 weeks later and told him about being sick, he prescribed anti-naseum medicine which I took before my Chemo (actually I recall having some prescribed at my first A/C treatment. He was very pro-active in treating my naseum but I would do projectile vomiting at the end of my treatment. I actually felt better by doing so, but to be sure, the A/C treatments were harder on me and I knew that it would take me about 10 days to recover. The Taxol and Herceptin were a piece of cake. I am very glad to hear you did not experience the same thing. --- mizzes12 mizzes12@...> wrote: > Thank you, Lucinda! Guest guest
Best advice is to take all the med's they give you - even take the anti- nausea BEFORE you feel any stomach discomfort. It's hard to play catch- up with you wait til you feel sick....also, drink tons and tons of water, and remember to take something for the constipation BEFORE it actually happens (it if's going to). The chemo, steroids and anti- nausea all cause constipation - so stay ahead of it. That was my worst side effect! (and I had it because I didn't listen...) Best of luck! You'll do great. Just hang in there anyone with less than 3 tx...i don't have an appetite for a few days but it comes back the second week (no weigh loss here)put it like this you may drop off with posting for a bit... but everybody understands...
