Guest guest
Johanna, Describe what you are feeling. If it's only hairloss and lack of energy then yes it could be something else. You also stated that you are pretty healthy so I would be inclined to say that it could be your thyroid. You did not list any labs for us to analyze and say yes you appear to be hypo. I would advise you to read Chapter 9 on www.thyroidmanager.com it gives an in depth view of hypothyroidism and if you have many of those symptoms maybe you need a second gp or doc opinion. Guest guest
Johanna,Don't give up, even if this is not the right list for you. I don't know how old you are, but I am only 44 and I have been going through progressively more and more symptoms until finally this year I was diagnosed as Hypothyroid with extremely high antibodies. My weight climbed over the last ten years by 40-50 pounds. My hair got thinner and thinner, no leg hair, thought I was just "lucky", not to have to shave, or tweeze my eyebrows. More and more tired as time went on. Only to think i was such a wimp. Why couldn't I control my weight and energy the way other "real" women did?Getting this bad didn't happen overnight, I will assume getting better won't either. I just take one day at a time, I am having more good days than bad lately, and I am grateful for it. Please don't just accept your plight. I believe my mother who passed in 2001 was hypo, and could have had a much more fulfilling life had she addressed it. I also believe my sister is hypo and by not addressing it is living a less than fulfilling life. I have neighbors who are in their eighties who run circles around me, so I don't think it is normal to have so little energy when I am half their age. if this is not the right group, i urge you to continue on your search, you are worth it. JackieHi gang.I've been here awhile and am slowly finding out I am not any better off than I was at the beginning. My symptoms are not quite what others are experiencing so possibly my thyroid isn't the real problem here.I resently had bloodwork done and although I didn't get the actual numbers off my doctor it's no matter as I'm not really sick. It's just that I don't have the energy I want and should have at my age, my weight is steadily going up, I have experienced hairloss, especially body hair but it may be menopauce and so on and so forth. As I said, I am probably not on the right list here. Some things you just have to live with I guess. Guest guest
Hi gang. I've been here awhile and am slowly finding out I am not any better off than I was at the beginning. My symptoms are not quite what others are experiencing so possibly my thyroid isn't the real problem here. I resently had bloodwork done and although I didn't get the actual numbers off my doctor it's no matter as I'm not really sick. It's just that I don't have the energy I want and should have at my age, my weight is steadily going up, I have experienced hairloss, especially body hair but it may be menopauce and so on and so forth. As I said, I am probably not on the right list here. Some things you just have to live with I guess. Best Jóhanna
Guest guest
Thanks Robin. I'll read the chapter and check if it brings me any knowledge. Here we are not used to ask for our blodwork results but I could of course. I may ring my specialist and ask her to e-mail my results. Guest guest
Robin. I couln't see any chapters. It looked a lot more like an adverticement for some drugs or something.
