Guest guest
Hi, I had to put in my thoughts here.Mic 5 and dxed ds/asd services are much better since I went and had his dx on paper. During Early Intervention I did not need it I got all the services we could handle. I did not want poor Mic to have such a list of disabilities but I knew and was told by 2 peds he was autistic.I waited to get the dx on paper. Before he entered pre-school I had the autism on paper we get alot more services it definately makes a difference and yes my Dev. Ped said we can always reverse the dx if he gets there. The Pdd-Nos is not the dx you want its not covered by most insurances yet either. You are better off with a mild autistic dx than PDD_Nos beleive me I did my homework.Since Mic has a the dx we get services faster and alot more of them. Most people bend over backwards to help us if we ask.The only down side is people feel sorry for us that dont know Mic and people that do know Mic think we are blessed. Mic is the happiest little guy I know and he loves people if they do not touch him.Mics doc told us autism is our biggest problem and not the ds.He would be high function ds if the autism did not set in.Mic was eating and talking several words before the age of 2 when he just stopped. So I say go for the dx you can always reverse it.I believe most children with mild autism get undxed by the time they are adults.Mic is in an all autistic school and absolutely these kids are apraxic almost all of them.
