Guest guest
I've been following the NIMS rationale for " spiffier " IDs for EMS providers. And truthfully, it doesn't matter to me one way or another. I usually don't wear my DSHS ID, but I am required to wear the ID card for either of the two EMS systems I'm affiliated with. Remember, our DSHS certification/licensure doesn't authorize us to provide EMS care. Only our medical directors can do that. So, keeping that in mind, it's much more important for me to have my system ID card which shows my system affiliation, name, and certification level. I do wonder however if the NIMS/FEMA rationale is being taken too far. I know of at least two state government agencies whose employees were given shiny new badges (like a cop!) on the rationale that they'd " need them if they went to a big emergency. " I'm curious why their state agency's ID cards would not be sufficient. -Wes Ogilvie ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone.
