Hi! I'm from Greene, NY and I am a Type 2 and in insulin pumper

(Paradigm). I was diagnosed 4 years ago this August and have been through

oral meds, syringes and now the pump which I started this last December. I

am a brittle diabetic. My last A1c (this week) was 7.7 .

The emails I've been reading have been so interesting as I have no family

support (hubby and 2 teens) and even though my friends try they still think

diabetes is all about sugar. So I know I'm not alone! My father is also a

brittle diabetic in his 80's but he's rather stubborn in his " self-treatment

so discussion is rare other that comparing lows. *wry grin*

Current discussions...

-For lows I use lotsa pulp OJ (a treat!) and for highs my pump lets me do a

correction bolus.

-Vision...mine once in awhile goes blurry when high and spotty when low.

When I first went on oral meds my vision was awful and I could barely see to

drive.

-Testing...I test when I get up, before and after meals, before I drive if I

feel nervous and before bed. I have a BD meter that came with my pump and

it's fast and pretty much pain-free.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Welcome , I am also on a MiniMed pump.

I know what you mean about no support.

My family means well but just don't know about diabetes.

I try to explain about it but they are not very receptive.

This list sure helps. Stay in touch.
