Guest guest
- Searched for hrs. on web and couldn't find photos similar to mine. The few photos I did come across looked more like a rash than what I have. They are small raised bumps, the size of a large mosquito bite. About 1/2 size of penny in diameter. They don't hurt, not warm to touch and no pitting. The medicine did get rid of a few of them and left scarring similar to vac. shots we had as kids. I remember the dermatologist talking with another doctor and he said " I imagine if we cut them open there would be ..... in there. Anyway, they don't really bother me, just don't look very sexy. lol When I had the cellu;itis, it was a concern because one of the doctors told me if you have a small lesion and bacteria gets into it that's one way to get cellulitis. Looking back, everything seems to be a big mystery with the medical field. It's very difficult to get a stright answer, which leaves the patient wondering, " what the &&*#$%!! " The leg pain just started a few weeks ago. I can remember one morning looking in the mirror (something I try to avoid) and being surprised at the weight gain. That's why I'm thinking sciatica - hopefully shedding 20 lbs. and it will go away. We'll see what happens. Shouldn't these doctors let us know what we're in for before treating us with the R.I. They make it like it's no big deal. , what happens to you when you stop taking meds.? Do you know what your daily dosage should be? There has to be an answer for you. This great country of ours is really going down the tubes. What a disgrace, with all of the money we spend on other things and other countries. Believe me, people are fed up with it! Where there's a will there's a way. Right! We need to find a way for you to get to see a doctor and get a prescription for your meds. Just the stess of wondering how to stretch your stash has to be taking a toll on you. Well, feel like I'm rambling again. Hope to hear from you soon. Guest guest
Sounds like you've ruled a couple of things out and confirmed another and have a lead on yet another.. that's good.. the more you rule out the closer you get to answers.... One of the things that I love here is that we get to share experiences, not every body responds the same as the next, so the more info that we have to compare our own symptoms and responses to the closer we get to what we need.... My dose? I was up to 4 1/2 grain with good basals and feeling pretty good when I had trouble getting meds over the next 6 months I gradually reduced and thought I had it licked when was finally able to order.... but... the shipment was stopped twice... so I had to cut back even more until I finally ran out... and then switched to a less potent version... and got some help from some great folks here.... I'm now working on getting the dose back up.. it's a slow process.. small increases and then the six week wait as the body goes through the adjustment process it needs to with a change in hormone levels.... it will take time.. but I've done it before.. I guess I'll be doing it again.... Having to drop a dose is NOT fun... In a way though... some of it was interesting... knowing a LOT more about what was going on then the last time I ran out (that was in '99) I was able to be more observant over changes... My charting was a reverse of what it is when increasing a dose... I got to watch my heart rate slow.. breathing slow.. although it didnt' get as low as it was in 2002 when I started self treating (resting heart rate was 50, breathing was 10 per minute and intermittent, and I had no energy, no desire to do anything... any exertion was pretty much a guarantee that I'd be immobile for days.. This time, maybe cuz I'd been doing pretty good on the natural and tapered off more gradually it just didn't get so bad... Now I have been able to see the numbers come back up.. and feeling better... again, interesting to watch now that I know what to watch for.. but don't get me wrong.. I REALLY REALLY don't want to ever have to go through this again and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy... though I do wish it on the docs that abuse us when it comes to thyroid care.. they NEED to understand what it's like when you live in a body that can't do what your mind is telling it to do.... .... sorry... little soap boxy there.... Yes, they were right about the cellulitis.. the smallest cut or scrape can be the entry point for bacteria that will start a full blown infecting.. you have to be very careful with your skin in the area that has collected lymph fluid.. once you've had it, and your's was much much worse than what I went through, you learn to be very careful with your skin.... I ran across a site about a year or so ago with some bumps similar to what I have... not lymph related.. that are sounding similar to what you are describing.... I'll have to see if I can find that again tomorrow... or take pics of mine... I have two on my right leg and recently developed one on my right wrist... no pain, no discoloration, well, maybe just a tad lighter than the skin around them.. they are just there.... The are somewhat solid to the touch, don't seem to be filled with fluid... I haven't really thought about them too much other than to wonder what they are..... Hmmmmmm I don't have a lot of faith in docs after what was done to me... I actually went in soon enough to have been able to choose between the options available to slow an over active thyroid.. but the doc I saw decided that I was 'too fat to be sick' and pretty much told me to go away... Considering I was a body builder with only 21% body fat (at that age 20 was considered underweight) BEFORE I dropped 40 pounds in 30 days... 'too fat to be sick' really didn't fit.... By the time my symptoms escalated enough to affect my ability to perform my job I was no longer sleeping, cuz I had to stay up to eat... I was barely maintaining my weight while eating up to 30,000 calories a day.... I was pumping out so much body heat that I was driving my truck, not only without the heat turned on, but with the AC running to keep the windshield from fogging up... I thought nothing of it until my boss wanted to hitch a ride in my truck to get downtown for a staff meeting... My route took it right to where he needed to go... He gets in the truck, it's 20 below outside that morning. and I have the AC on... He's wondering what the heck is going on... I reminded him that the heater had gone out in that truck the fall before and it had never been fixed... but I was okay, with the AC running it kept the windows clear enough to see out of!!! This was the same boss that had noticed my rapid weight loss... and observant guy! Never really thought about it before... but both times I went in to see a doc he had a lot to do with it by pointing out I was not exactly acting normal!!! hehehehehe Not long after that I went in to see an orthopedist cuz all of a sudden I couldn't move my shoulders to open the doors on my truck at work... she had me take off my shirt and asked me to move my arms this way, then that way.... within a couple of minutes she was asking me questions... weight loss, last period, eating habits.... she then read my chart and went cussing and yelling down the hall and reamed the first doc a new anal orifice... I had been in storm when I'd seen that first doc... all the symptoms were noted in my chart... along with the statement that he'd made to me... 'too fat to be sick'. The problem was that by the time I was diagnosed there was no time for any of the safer, slower treatments.... I was at the hospital in a matter of hours, handed a release form to sign so that I couldn't sue them for nuking me... I got a scan, the lab results came in to confirm the orthopedist's visual diagnosis and I got nuked..... I was sick that night and for the first three days of my quarantine... I thought I had the flu.... I've found out since then that, by the symptoms, I very likely had radiation poisoning... that they had given me too much.... It's cuz of all of that.. and the poor treatment by the docs after that that I now have such a bad attitude about the intelligence of docs... I KNOW there are good ones out there..... I was just never lucky enough to get one.. and it could have killed me... and for sure made me wish I was dead. The more knowledgeable we become about all this thyroid stuff the better we will be able to determine if we have a good doc.. the sooner you find out... good or bad.. the sooner things get moving in the right direction.... I kept seeing jerks until I couldn't walk on my own or keep my job.. that's not right...
