Hi Dianne,

We discussed this several years ago, and I remember us talking about taking

a warm bath when numbers were high (not extremely high). It could be stress

that helped push the numbers higher and I would think, relaxing would help to

lower them. When I'm overtired and stressed, I add lavender to my bath

water. When I can't go to sleep at night, I put lavender on my pillow and I

almost instantly go to sleep.

As much water as you can stomach, then drink some more. Followed by

more water.

At least this is what I have been told.

Hello Charlie,

You a hammy? I used to have a neighbor who was really into that. He

could talk to ppl ALL OVER when the waves bounced off the ceiling. That

would be fun. Hope you don't go to the hospital again anytime soon.

I have used fenugreek (seeds and capsules), gymnema sylvestra, and carb

I will check with my doctor......thanks!

Kathleen Cowart katseye1969@...> wrote: May I suggest talking to

your doc about Lantus and Humulin R or Lantus and Humulog. Lantus is awesome.

It's a slow acting, once a day insulin. I love it. The others I mentioned are a

short acting. But really, if you can get Lantus in the right dosage, you may not

need a short acting. Lantus is like a wonder srug. I love it and you get used to

the injections, it's not a big deal. Good luck on your colon. I had that done

years ago. I felt a lot better post op.

Dianne cynthiadianne2004@...> wrote: The lowest my BG has been is 130 and

Normally it runs 145 to 200. A couple of times it was over 300 but that was all.

I feel horrible and very tired all the time. I also have diverticulosis and will

be having surgery Aug. 15 to repair fistula and taking out part of my colon. I

take metformin 500 mg twice daily. I have only taken it since June 23. This is

all new to me but I am learning!

Kathleen Cowart katseye1969@...> wrote: That's something you would need

tolerances...There are a few options out there. One of them being a short

acting. My scale starts at 119, ie If I am at 120-131, I take 1 unit, etc. I

don't recomend drinking all of that water, that puts undue strain on your body

and all it really does is give you a diluted reading.

When my husband was in the Navy and would be out to sea for months

at a time I would occasionally get a call from a ham operator who

would patch me through to my husband while he was on the ship. I am

very thankful for that.

Cookeville is a nice town.

Stay healthy:)

Marie, When I was in the air Force I was a member of the Military Affiliate

Radio System (MARS).

We would do just as you said we would connect to a HAM operator to connect

service men with their families. This was in the OLDEN DAYS before the

Internet and personal computers.

I even remember sending messages by Morse code to families. The receiving

HAM operator would call the receiving family and read the message to them.

I didn't know they did that. Any type of message from my husband

was like gold to me. I'm just glad he doesn't travel any more.

It's nice having him home every night.

Dianne, your blood sugars will eventually come down...

What is important to do right now (since you are in the very early stages of

treatment) is to:

1) Follow your doctors directions for medication

2) If you have been to a dietitian, follow your meal plan (or if your

doctor has given you a meal plan)

3) Keep records of your blood sugar readings

4) If you have questions or concerns be sure to discuss them with your

doctor.

5) Increase your activity level as is appropriate for your health

conditions.

Determining a plan of treatment involves a certain amount of trial and

error. Keeping that in mind, your part in the process is to follow the

instructions and provide adequate feedback so that your doctor can make

appropriate decisions.

Some medications take a bit of time to work, so don't expect overnight

changes. You might ask at your doctors office if you can fax your readings

each week... maybe get a little faster adjustment to medications than

waiting for your next appointment.
