Guest guest
I am supposed to start tamoxifen next week. I hear from you and other people that it causes weight gain. Did anyone have other side effects. How long did the side effects take effect? I was daignoised with DCIS (non-invasive estrogen and progesterone + and Her2-) I had a lumpectomy and rads. Still get my periods monthly and I am 53. Never missed a month except when pregnant. The doctors don't even want to consider removing my ovaries, since they are in good shape, but I have uterine fibroids. I am also taking meds for an underactive thryoid, and high blood pressure. Thanks for any info you have. I am not crazy about taking tamoxifen- wish there were other alternatives. (((Hugs))) Eileen
Guest guest
the only other side effect from the tamoxifen for me was hot flashes , but they are lessening over time. and the way i look at it - it may be frustrating with the weight issue but i would rather be on the tamoxifen than have a higher chance of the cancer recurring. sheri --------------------------------- Cheap Talk? Guest guest
I took tamoxifin for almost a year from Dec 2002 to Oct 2003 and then switched to Arimidex...I was getting cramps in my legs and swelling in my feet...had the weight gain...Dont have as many cramps in my legs on Arimidex...I have to force myself to drink water...I am not a drinker ...could go all afternoon with out drinking anything and that is not good...My pulse rate was high the last time at drs...because I dont drink enough...drinking water also helps the cramps... Guest guest
With taking the Arimidex you also have to take calcium pills or I take the chewable pills...to prevent bone loss... Betsy Note: forwarded message attached.
