Guest guest
You're right Karin - It's not them feeling the way I do either. It was interesting to see the results of one of the polls - symptoms that bothered people the most - fatigue. I don't consider myself a wimp or lazy, but this has really kicked my butt. The doctor also wanted to start me on anti-depressants (been there, done that). When I told her that I wasn't depressed, she said that being hypo would also bring on signs of depression. Made sense. My point is, many SRI's usually carry a nasty side effect - fatigue! I am taking a drug called Provigil which used to help quite a bit, but lately seems to be hit or miss. Somedays it helps, other days it's as if I never took it. Was reading an article earlier about Bush " The Elder " titled " thyroid storm, " questioning his abilities to make decisions after treatment for thyroid. Thanks for the info on labs kats. Can I call the lab to ask for my last results? I need to go for new labs and rule out diabetes. What's with the dry mouth and enlarged tongue? Have so many questions, but sure I'll pick some up as I go along and read old posts. Thanks you guys, you've been very helpful. Seeing all of these posts and new members, tells me know that this is no joke. It sure is easier to get through difficult times with support from others. I've been living life like a recluse the past 6 months. This has been a big dose of HOPE. Thanks Jeff

I do not know if you can get old labs from the actual lab itself , but you are able to get them from the doctor who precribed the labs. A few docs may charge you a photocopying fee but they legally by law have to make them available to you. With your new labs you can put in a request to the labs that they send a copy directly to you. Guest guest
Jeff, when the TSH is increased, the tongue swells - as does the lower abdomen. Recluse? Definitely hypo. Depression is a symptom of hypothyroidism. Antidepressants are NOT the answer. The more hypo, the flatter the emotions. I haven't read all your posts. What dosage of T4 are you on? It should be approx. 1 mcg per lb. of body weight. Correct the thyroid medication and dosage, and the other symptoms may clear up. After all, the thyroid affects every single cell in your body. Karin esults? I need to go for new labs and rule out diabetes. What's > with the dry mouth and enlarged tongue? Have so many questions, but > sure I'll pick some up as I go along and read old posts.
