Guest guest
Hello every one.. I was reading a little on creams that people were using for radiation burn.. I had been using biofine (RX) and also aquaphor and aloe vera gel 100%.. but found a cream from the hospital that was given to me when I went in for infection of seroma on the right side mastectomy..probably brought on by the radiation since I was 3 months out from surgery the cream is called " cavilon " foot and dry skin cream and it is manufactrured by 3M.. I got it from a cna at La Jolla Scripps she just went to the cupboard and got it.. and I started using it.. it is PH Balanced Lipid-Rich and has NO alcohol.. I tried cocoa butter as well.. but this was working so well and I was not burned and peeling that my Radiologist contacted 3M about getting a supply for her office.. I went to google and looked up the cream at 3M products and they have a health store that you can purchase it.. the tube was around $7.98 which I paid on line and I also purchased the 3M tape that the plastic surgeon was using to cover the scar line 3M Micropore.. you cannot see the scar at all on the right side where the radiation was and the skin is smooth and soft.. the only problem I am having right now is that I have capsular contracture going on around the expander and some tightening of the muscle where the infection was.. but the Plastic surgeon says he will clean that up in April when we do the exchange.. if I use implants.. I am still debating on implants or Diep.. There is a doctor in Texas(Dr. Aldona Spiegle) that devotes 100% of her practice to breast reconstruction using diep and " innervation " technique where she even attaches some of the nerve endings back in place using the Diep and she is successful getting " sensation " back around 30% of the time.. uses your own fat and skin..no muscle is used.. you get a tummy tuck without loosing muscle and your own skin and fat so the body does not reject it like an implant..so I am debating..When I find the 3M site in my old email I will try to post a link to anyone who is wanting to purchase online..it took about 2 weeks to order and get it to my door..but worked so well.. OH... LOL in case I forgot to introduce myself.. HI...I am Cheryl .. recently diagnosed in May 2006 right BC 2 sites. Guest guest
I HAVE BEEN HOLDING OFF ON TAKING ARIMIDEX SINCE I HAVE READ SUCH HORROR STORIES ABOUT THE SIDE EFFECTS AND LIMITED RESEARCH ON LONG TERM EFFECTS.. I AM ASKING MY ONCOLOGIST ONCE AGAIN TO CONVINCE ME THAT IT IS WORTH THE RISKS AS WELL AS THE $150.00 COPAY EACH MONTH FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS AND MAYBE MY RISK OF RECURRANCE WILL BE SO SMALL WITH THE ONCOTYPE DX SCORE THAT JOINT PAIN AND BLOOD CLOTS AND UTERINE CANCER IS NOT WORTH IT TO ME.. IF I CHANGE MY DIET AND GET MY BLOOD TESTS REGULARLY AND DO MY PET SCANS.. MY TUMOR WAS IN 2 PLACES..Thus the mastectomy.. ONE WAS SUCKED OUT DURING THE BIOPSY.05CM AND THE LARGEST ONE .08CM WAS LEFT AGAINST THE CHEST WALL WHICH RADIATION TOOK CARE OF.. The only thing I am concerned about is reconstruction diep or not.. I am 53 yr old and implants seem easier procedure but more surgery later., and what 53 year old wants 20 yr old perky boobs at 53??? I just want some soft squishy grammy boobs like I had.. These expander implants are hard and I can feel the plastic through the skin.. and one is big(left) and the other is hard and high..not the same.. but Plastic surgeon says it is all fixable.????
