Hi Sandy,

The American Cancer Society has a whole brochure on exercises to do after

surgery. Reach to Recovery brought me a bunch of their brochures and they were

very helpful.

My surgeon gave me a little harder of an exercise and I did it diligently and

recovered quickly. I had 16 nodes removed so it was painful. Turn sideways

near a wall and walk your fingers up but as you do push your body close to the

wall. At first I thought, no way, this hurts way to much, but I did it. Within

a week I could lift my arm over my head and move my body touching the wall. I

remember feeling so proud. lol

I had a terrible pain in the back of my arm. It was from a nerve being cut.

That lasted the longest, a few weeks but is gone now. I had a mastectomy Nov.

22nd and I feel pretty normal now. My bruising went away in two weeks I think.

I also flew back east for Christmas and purchased a tight sleeve to wear. I am

glad I did. I do not want to get lymphedema. My hygienist said she got it a

year after her mastectomy when flying.

hope this helps,

well wishes,

joanna
