Guest guest
, I had a needle biopsy done last year, and it was pretty uncomfortable! They numbed my neck but I could still feel the poking and prodding; it felt like huge needles going in, but in reality they are so thin and tiny. The doctor took 4 samples, then numbed me up some more and took 2 more. I did have a wonderful nurse by my side the entire time holding my hand, or should I say letting me squeeze hers! She kept talking to me throughout the procedure; it would have been much worse without her there. The whole process took less than 1/2 hour, and afterwards, my neck was very sore. But, by the next day I felt much, much better! So, overall it was pretty awful, but not too bad for that short amount of time. I have to have my right side of my thyroid removed in 2 weeks; I am not looking forward to that! ~Jill in NJ Re: thyroid nodules biopsy >What made it like something out of a bad horror film?>Was it painful or uncomfortable?>Did they not tell you any of what to expect and you didn¹t look it up in>advance? They laid me out on the table with my neck up in the air (best way I can think to describe it). The lights were off so the Dr. could see the u/s screen, while a bright light shone on my neck. Just seemed like something out of a bad sci fi film. And yes, I looked it up in advance. I was told that most people tolerate the procedure well by my Dr. I guess I'm just not most people. I'm sort of needle phobic, so that just made it worse. I thought it was painful. Well, actually, 1 wasn't bad, 1 was pretty uncomfortable, 1 was pretty awful and one was just painful.
