Guest guest
I am having the last of 30 radiation treatments tomorrow. Until about 2 weeks ago, my skin was ok but has been progressively getting worse. The skin started by getting red, really red..burning and peeling..It's now raw and very painful over my chest and breast and under the breast! I have been ising Biafine and now the Dr. has me on Xenaderm (I have a sulpha allergy and can't use the silver product)but it burns. Can't imagine how this will ever heal.. I know it will.. Have any of you had such a bad reation..? what did you do and how long till it got better?? Any advice would be a help.. Thanks.. Guest guest
Don't know about the cabbage leaf for rads, but my daughter used them when she was having a diificult time nursing. My husband went with her husband to the grocery store, and came back to report that was feeling all the cabbages " to find the right size " . LOL!!! Guest guest
I finished the last of my rads-30 of them with the last 5 being boosters. I had radiation dermitis- tiny itchy bumps all over my chest, peeling nipples, itchy and sore. Also very red under my breasts. I was given Aquaphor and Biafine cream. I used Aquaphor baby wash for the shower. Believe it or not- everything faded within a week to a dark tan- some soreness by the lumtectomy site which is near my armpit, but bearable. I am even able to wear a soft wirless bra already! I never thought it would heal so quickly. Hope it is the same for you. My doctor said it may get worse a few days after treatment and then start healing, but it really didn't for me. I am fair skin, too. Glad it is not summer.
