We just got back, They removed the buttress from 's BAHA. No the skin

will close over it and heal, we hope. If we decide to later use the BAHA

they will have to go to the O.R. and remove the skin from the screw and do a

skin graft over it. We were not sure we were ready to cover this up but the

infection was not healing. The Dr said that this can happen sometimes

w/BAHA's.

germs get in between the buttress and the screw. We weren't using it

anyway.

tolerated it like a real trooper. We applied Elma cream ahead of

time, then he gave her an in injection to numb it more. There was still a

small

opening to the screw, he took tweezers' and a screw driver unscrewed it and

off it came! She was really upset for about 10mns, but its over and done.

Cathie,

I felt myself holding my breath at the description of the procedure! I am

glad it is done and that she is ok.

Now, to healing!

Go ! Go Cathie! Here's to speedy healing! What a trooper! I am holding

a place where this will resolve without any further incident - a completely

ordinary stream of days- full of health and serendipity.... oh, and a wonderful

placement in the optimum school with all the supports to have thrive and

further blossom...... we may as well ask for it all - deserves it!

OHHH! I love that I can picture the two of them snuggling and laughing together.

And....I guess I can picture the " gucky " part, too. Good luck with the

cleaning. She will probably tolerate it better now that it really is on the

mend. Good luck with the cleaning AND the healing.
