Guest guest
Hi, Michele: Welcome. Don't know what to say about your reoccurence. I just had a mastectomy in December, five weeks out now. Am considering the DIEP tram flap procedure. E-mail me if you need someone to talk to. You are in my prayers. Michele Gatelymnm5@...> wrote: Hi! Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, The reoccurrence was after the masectomy, a whole year after... I had two large tumor grow back on my pectoral muscle. It had nothing to do with the reconstruction, I would still do that again in a heartbeat.. I had to do with the type of aggressive cancer I have and it not responding to the chemo. Luckily, after 2 PETSCANs.. it didn't appear anywhere else so after removing the new tumors, I was lucky enough to have radiation to do.. I just finished that in September... Good luck with your plans, however if you plan to reconstruct, you need to do that first (with a tram flap anyways) because otherwise the radiation would kill all the new tissue. Please check with your doctors as to how they practice!
