Hyperthyroidism is a condition caused by the effects

of too much thyroid hormone on tissues of the body.

Although there are several different causes of

hyperthyroidism, most of the symptoms that patients

experience are the same regardless of the cause (see

the list of symptoms below). Because the body's

metabolism is increased, patients often feel hotter

than those around them and can slowly lose weight even

though they may be eating more. The weight issue is

confusing sometimes since some patients actually gain

weight because of an increase in their appetite.

Patients with hyperthyroidism usually experience

fatigue at the end of the day, but have trouble

sleeping. Trembling of the hands and a hard or

irregular heartbeat (called palpitations) may develop.

These individuals may become irritable and easily

upset. When hyperthyroidism is severe, patients can

suffer shortness of breath, chest pain, and muscle

weakness. Usually the symptoms of hyperthyroidism are

so gradual in their onset that patients don't realize

the symptoms until they become more severe. This means

the symptoms may continue for weeks or months before

patients fully realize that they are sick. In older

people, some or all of the typical symptoms of

hyperthyroidism may be absent, and the patient may

just lose weight or become depressed.

This is me right now..... Grrrrrrrr.

As idle as a painted ship

And all the boards did shrink;

Water, water, everywhere,

Nor any drop to drink.

I was hyper for nearly two decades.. and no one around me noticed.. not

even when I went in to the docs for check ups for jobs.. not even during

the five years that I worked for Mosquito control and got bled every four

weeks March through October did any of the needle pushers notice

anything!!!

Not even when I messed up my hand and saw half a dozen docs get that

fixed....

arrrgggghh

So, E.... little bit too much T3? You are going to be a delicate balance

aren't you????

Thanks...

You didn't deserve to be ignored.

I can't beleive all those horrid people didn't pick up

on it!!!! THEY are a bunch of ho-bags!

AS you remember...I was thinking skies were gonna come

blue for me by the Fall. The balance couldn't be far

off since the Summer only showed me that I needed more

t4. I had been migrained out and highly debilitated

by them...staying in bed all day, every day.

So...I upped the t4...only to find that for two

months, while I awaited testing, that the dang pills

were subpotent!!!!!!

So..then I had to tweak that same ground all over

again...and when I do..I get the clashing thing going

on -- HAVING to raise the t4 while reducing the

t3...slowly, gently, watching, like an artist.

So...I reduced the Armour..again...and Again...and

Again.. 105, 90, 75, 60, 45...(now on 45).

Hell..that sweet spot has got to be here somewhere!

It's hard to find.. but it's there, somewhere....

I held around 2 grain for a while.... and then tweaked it up to around

3.. then held there for a while.. (I went mildly hyper both those times),

then back to tweaking it up till I was at 4 1/2.. that seemed to be my

sweet spot... but I wasn't able to order, had to conserve pills and

started backing off the dose... so it will be interesting to see if my

spot is 4 1/2 or if it's a bit higher....

It's been a fascinating year... I've stopped losing weight.... but

haven't gained... even with my crappy food choices.. I credit mini

mealing for that, the keeping me from gaining.... I am pretty curious to

see, if I don't change eating habits just what the reintroduction of

hormone will do.

I had a lymph 'purge' night before last... not quite sure what it was

from, peeing like crazy and lost about 8 inches around my middle, judging

by the fit of my pants... but it was back again this morning.. slept like

a log last night....

So many things to balance in these new bodies of ours!!

I'd dearly love to see your bloods when you hit your

sweet spot!

Thanks for the encouragement...

If this was meant for me... Me too!

I saw my labs at, what? 2 1/2 grain.. they were crummy... but I was

feeling so HUGELY better than I had for all the years on Synthroid it was

incredible... so what did they look like at 4 1/2?

I know my basals looked good... weight was coming off... I was walking

over a mile at a stretch... had visions of walking down to the park by

the river and spending an afternoon... (especially when I saw they

finally put up an outhouse!! hehehehe)

Maybe this summer? We'll see how I do... I'm working on getting my

walking endurance up again... just have to deal with the muscle spasms in

my back.. my legs are doing okay...

This would be wonderful to see. I can't help

wondering if there is something happening to your

frees that is really different to mine, but I also

wonder if there are two sweet spots for all of us, but

one is just sweeter than the other...

I felt like death warmed over on straight synthroid.

I still am surprised I'm not dead from it...

Isn't it amazing how your thought life changes when

you are feeling better?

The endurance coming back will be great. If you can

do that, maybe you can stretch more and walk more, and

that will help to some degree with your back. I know

my back is prone to spasms because of this thryoid

stuff and becaue I am really flexible...its easy for

me to move in ways that spasms are likely.

Topper...I salute you for trying so hard to get well!

You are such a great person.
