Guest guest
I had my first Chemo treatment on the 5th. All went well - no side effects, felt good but tired, even went back to work.I started running a fever 10 days later on Sunday afternoon - I was in the ER for 7 hours and then admitted with dehydration, low potasiom, low electrolites plus no white cell count. to make a long story short I had to have 2 shots of Neutrogen (not on the same day)which the first shot brought it up to 2 and the second shot brought it up to 6. I am triple negative, 63 years old. Got out of the hospital late Tuesday and am staying home trying to regroup mentally and physically. I am terrified to have another Chemo treatment for fear of the same thing happening - I am scheduled for 3 more of Taxtore/Cytoxin. Can any of you advise or guide me or let me know if you have gone through the same? Thanks Dee
Guest guest
One time on a Monday in 2002 I had chemo and by Thurs I went back to work and ended up with a fever that day...Went to the drs on Friday. and got a fluid drip and had to watch fever ...no better by the next Tues. and waited in ER area for most of the afternoon waiting to get a room in the hospital because now my white blood count was down...Took about 2 days to get fever normal and it took longer to get blood count back to nornal...I went home on a Saturday.. Spent 4 days in the hospital.... I used to get chemo on Monday and go back to work Thurs and Fri. after being in the hospital I stayed out the whole week from work because I would have a slight stomach ache and did not want to end up in the hospital again.
