I went to the nutrimeds site and they didn't say anything about Quantity in the bottle, ml's, mg's or any kind of dosage. What do you get in a bottle of the porcine tablets? etopper2@... wrote: So far only one source in the US that has actual hormone in it... that's Nutri-Meds ( www.nutri-meds.com ).

They can't list dosage.. they can list tablet size.. that's 130 mg... if they list a dosage that puts them under the jurisdiction of requiring a prescription...

Here is the ingredient list, contains 90 tablets per bottle:

Nutri-meds Porcine thyroid:

Whole Desiccated Thyroid Glandular Concentrate - PorcineRaw Porcine Thyroid Tissue 130 mg. (from the same source as the thyroid powder used in the other products)Dicalcium PhosphateMagnesium SterateNatural vegetable color

Here's the ingredient list for Armour Thyroid.. tablet size ranges from 1/4 grain (15 mg) to 5 or 6 grain (which would be 300 or 360, respectively)

ARMOUR Thyroid, Forest Pharmaceuticals.

Porcine Thyroid Powder, U.S. PharmacopeiaDextrose (sugar, to make it more palatable)Microcrystalline CelluloseSodiumCalcium Stearate (stabilizer and lubricant)Opadry White

Personally, I 'by feel' perceive Nutri-meds, though about a 2 grain tablet size-wise, is about 1 grain in strength.. but there is no way to verify that with documentation, cuz as soon as they do, they lose their 'nutritional supplement' status and a prescription is required.

It should list the quantity per bottle on the site, along with the general description... anyway... make sure that you order tablets, not capsules... and porcine, not bovine (unless you can't do pork products).

The porcine works better (so pig works better than cow for thyroid hormone) and with tablets you have the option to split the pills and have better control over your dosing and increases AND you can dose sublingually so you get a better absorption rate than with capsules.

I'm still building my dosage back up... I'm using a conglomeration of pills... Thyroid-S, Armour, Cynomel and Nutri-Meds... I'm also adding in a synthetic T4 dose every few days, just trying to get my T4 reserves built up again since I had to short dose for so long and then ran out. I've been on one tab of Nutri-meds, divided into six pieces per day... today is my increase day, I haven't decided yet which pill gets increased... I have to dig everything out.. lay them out to judge quantities and then do the math to see how much the increase will be... I should have done it before today... but.. well, blush, didn't get around to it. I'll be charting everything out, after I have the pills inventoried, and set up the next several increases...

What are you taking now? Sorry for not remembering...... I'd suggest to start with a quarter tab, no more that 1/2 tab, to start... to see how your body responds... it's better to be on the low, safe, side than to start with too much...

Not so much brain fog as trying to remember what 500 people are doing and keeping it all straight in my head just doesn't work so well for me... so I'd rather keep mistakes low and ask! hehehe

Thyroid-S (Thyroid Strong) is a natural thyroid med, like Armour that is manufactured in Thailand. It was one of the generics used in the US when Armour was in short supply a couple of years ago.

Cynomel is the Mexican spelling/labeling of Cytomel... I'm not sure if it's the same thing with a change in spelling or they are from different manufacturers. They come in exactly the same bottle, same label, but with the different spelling. Even the tablets inside are exactly the same.

If your are on .88 of Levoxyl (generic of Synthroid) I'd start with a quarter tab of the Nutri-meds.

Pay attention to how you feel... Don't all weird and oh my gosh about it... just be aware. If you are anxious or panicky or jittery... if your heart beat gets to fast... anything like that... it will wear off in a few hours... it may not affect you much, if at all.. but if you know what might happen then you will know and understand and won't be freaking out.

Some folks feel it more than others... some folks don't feel any different, it's all individual... but it can be freaky if your body does react to it strongly and you don't know what is happening and get scared about it... So I just want you to be aware.. that it's normal if you do react and just as normal if you don't. Either way you'll know what's going on AND you know that you can ask here too if something ever doesn't feel 'right'.

Okay??
