Strawberries were the only item that tasted remotely accurate while I was on chemo (A/C & taxol) The tastebuds stayed that way until well after chemo. Good luck on the losing weight while on chemo. I threw up constantly due to the chemo reaking havoc on my stomach lining and I still gained 10-12 pounds. That sucked... :-) hugs to you m'dear, Dari
Guest guest
to me, tom's of maine tastes terrible - even without the chemo- distortion of our taste buds ;) marisa > > Hi Lucinda, > > Make sure your mouthwash does not contain alcohol. Guest guest
I have gained weight during chemo. The only things that taste good to me are foods that have a real strong taste, such as pasta with garlic and oil, and philly cheese steaks (with onions). Also chocolate. I have found myself not wanting or staying away from foods I liked pre-chemo, I think because I don't want to ruin them for when I'm finally done with all this. Look beyond your usual foods, experiment and treat yourself. As to the diarrhea, good foods (and comfort foods) include macaroni and cheese (they have these single packs now), white bread, bananas, plain pasta (a little bit of butter and salt and you're set).... Good luck and hang in there. > > I know they told me this would be a side effect of my chemo but I have > to admit, I was not prepared for this nasty bitter taste in my mouth > now! YECHHH!!! Guest guest
Val, we all know about that nasty taste in our mouth. I also had a film on my teeth and inside my mouth. I did find chewing gum at least made me feel that I had 'minty fresh' breath which the nasty taste and film didn't. Barb Michigan Nothing tatses good I know they told me this would be a side effect of my chemo but I have to admit, I was not prepared for this nasty bitter taste in my mouth now! YECHHH!!! There are very few things that I can eat that actually taste decent to me now. Any advice?? I am looking at the bright side of this--I will lose weight during chemo. Heaven knows I can stand to lose it! I have struggled all my life with weight and I can lose around 100 LBs and still not be where the weight charts SAY I should be ha ha! I am just hoping that when I DO get my taste back that I don't constantly pig out and gain it all back. I had my Herceptin yesterday and had diarhea once again last night. I am drinking lot's of fluids and other then that I am great! Val
Guest guest
I ate a lot of Mac n Cheese. Some things that I liked cold normally, I liked better warm and vice versa.
