Guest guest
Oh, Eunice! That was definitely a bad year. It's interesting that once you were asleep the surgeon had no problem. Do you think tension may have tightened up your veins? Hugs, Lynn Hi Lynn, I was in the operating room twice for the porta-cath. The first time I was not put to sleep and my surgeon could not get my veins to cooperate. It was to be a 30 minute process and he tried for 1 hr and 45 minutes. He gave up, scheduled me for the next week to be put to sleep. He had no problem that time. I was in the operating room 5 times that year. hugs Eunice --------------------------------- Talk is cheap. I don't want to go through it again, but it made me appreciate life more. I thiink what helped me more that year was always keeping a positive attitude, having great doctors and my faith in God. There were days I felt down, but I always found something to laugh about. I don't think it was tension with my veins because even now, sometimes it is hard to get blood. One funny thing that happened was once I had gone in for bloodwork between my treatments and the nurse could not get blood, so I told her to use the porta-cath. She could not even get blood that way. Finally, I realized she was getting stressed so I calmed her down and the blood starting flowing the way it should. hugs Eunice

Hi Lynn, She was getting very upset and I think that was the biggest problem. She was trying to hurry because the lab was waiting and she thought she was hurting me. Once I told her to slow down, that she wasn't hurting me at all, things went much better. hugs Eunice
