Guest guest
I am really having a hard time with the Armour. I felt yucky on Synthroid, but now I can barely function on the Armour. I just need a ray of hope that I will feel a little better soon. I am soooooooo tired and I have tremendous heavy head/brain fog. I am surprised to feel this badly so fast. Armour is a natural source of T4 and T3 combination drug.. JMO but the ratio is higher than what humans are used to the thyroid making. 1 grain or 60mg of Armour equals 38mcg of T4 and 9mcg of T3. Now the body uses T4 to convert to T3..with Synthroid you were relying heavily on conversion and conversion issues..you felt rough so either you were not on enough T4 or you were not converting to T3 as well as the body should of.. Now with Armour you get that direct T3..starting on a low dose Armour it is not much though and T3 only has a half life of 1-2 hours.. the rest all goes back to conversion and look at the drop in T4 your body has hit.. This is not to say Armour is wrong for you..chances are if you were feeling bad on Sythroid it may be the right move..consider it taking two steps back so you can take 4 steps forward.. Unfortunately with dosing it is a little different as you can not just calculate the T4 as the T3 needs to be accounted for also..as you stay on T3 and your body wakes up and gets retrained how to use it, you can slowly increase your Armour which not only increases the T3 but also builds back up the T4 that the body uses for conversion to T3 on a as needed basis.. Unfortunately patience is what is needed to treat this properly and patience sucks when you are in a hypo hole and want to get out. Guest guest
Thanks for the info! When should I start increasing. My doc said to take the 60mg for 6 weeks and repeat labs. But everything I read says to increase every week. Of course, I am nervous to increase at all b/c I feel so badly, but maybe an increase is what I need. > > > > I am really having a hard time with the Armour. Guest guest
Sun: There are some good posts back to you. I'd carefully mull them over...as I think you can improve that problem you have pretty quickly. ~E:) --- sunshellsea3 ncampbell04@...> wrote: > I am really having a hard time with the Armour. Guest guest
Armour increases every week can get you into trouble quickly unless it's a VERY small increase. I ruined my Armour experience by increasing too quickly at the advice of others, so be careful. I felt yukky on Synthroid too, and I'll never take it again. I did have good luck with Levoxyl and Armour combination, but now I'm back on straight ST4. I'm not sure why I said that, because I'm not recommending it, but I want you to know that there are options beyond what you've tried so far. If I were you, I would call the doctor, explain your symptoms and as for a small increase and then wait another six weeks after that if you're successful. That's what I would do. If you've found an Armour doc who will work with you, that is something to keep in your circle. How much Synthroid were you taking before the switch? I'm sorry if I missed it. Thanks for the info! When should I start increasing. My doc said to take the 60mg for 6 weeks and repeat labs. But everything I read says to increase every week.
