Guest guest
Did your meter come with a control solution? If so, you can use it to test the accuracy of the meter. I've read that dropping them, leaving them in the heat, and things like that can make the readings go bad. - Walter
Guest guest
Hi Lori, As a type I diabetic I know that stress raises the blood sugar. Also if you used your fingers for eating a sweet snack and failed to wash them before testing that will elevate your sugar readings. Exercise immediately raises the sugar before it falls. Don't forget the Morning Phenomenon. Typically I take more than double the Humalog insulin for breakfast than I take for lunch or dinner although the amount of carb exchanges only varies by one. Best of luck. Tim --- lori002001 lori002001@...> wrote: > Hi, I'm pretty new here and haven't posted much, but > I'm hoping > someone can help me. Guest guest
No, it didn't come with a control solution, I haven't been doing anything differently...I had another high reading after another typical dinner tonight, so I think it really is the meter. It is still under warranty and I think they are going to send me a new one...I hope that solves the problem, because I really can't figure out any other reason for it. Thanks for the suggestions. Guest guest
Dear Lori, While I know that others here have offered some helpful ideas in response to your message, I wanted to add the following. I often see that my blood glucose levels become elevated when I'm sick or have an infection or inflammation or stress or allergic reaction or ______________ (fill in the blank! ). It's pretty amazing that these elevated sugar levels can even alert me well in advance of my coming down with a cold or flu! On the downside, if your body isn't fighting off some " invader " or other perceived stress, and you continue to have higher readings, I've noticed that for me (and probably others here), diabetes is a progressive, chronic condition, and we sometimes have to " tweak " our diet, exercise, medications (oral and/or insulin), stress reduction, etc. to see what works best for our body. It's a continuing process of learning what works and then making the necessary adjustments. I hope this is helpful -- and you find your answers! All the Best, Question Hi, I'm pretty new here and haven't posted much, but I'm hoping someone can help me. Is there any reason why my bg would go up unexpectedly? The reason I'm asking is the last couple days I have been having some unusually high readings and I'm not doing anything differently, I am eating the same things, exercising, etc. I thought there was something wrong with my meter, but it isn't doing it every time...and I'm just curious if there is some other explanation. And yes, I tried changing my batteries, lol! Thanks. Lori .
Guest guest
Anggy, I don't understand the question about " immunodependent " . I did have my ovaries removed 1) because my breast cancer was er+ and 2) because I did not want have to worry about ovarian cancer. > > Hi; did anyone have to take of your ovaries because of a breastcancer inmunodependent, please let me know because i guess i am the only one. > Anggy. > > > --------------------------------- > Never Miss an Email > Stay connected with Yahoo! Guest guest
What about a colon cleanser? You'll be quite gassy for about a week or so, but once your colon has been cleansed it won't be bad, just normal stank. lol I took some natural vitamins to clean mine and they worked great...plus I was having bm's regularly again...check with your dr though on that advice though. > > Ok Ladies (smartest on the planet) since we can talk about anyting > here, I have a question. Guest guest
I don't have any answers for you but this is exactly where you need to express your concerns. After all, we use the word breast and talk about cancer as well as other things. After a person has been through surgery, chemo and radiation, there is not much modesty. Feel free to ask anything. I use Vitamin C to help cleanse. It seems to help most of the time. Maybe you could see your doctor for a prescrip for stool softner. My surgeon gave me one when I left the hospital. Guest guest
I am having the same problem...it think it probably has something to do with the extra chemicals we are putting in our bodies. I have noticed that it just seems to take longer for food to digest. I would check with your doctor. Mine recommended that I take a stool softener. Guest guest
OMG yes. I started taking simethicone (gas) pills a few times a day and keeping them with me. It was THAT bad and uncontrollable. It didn't seem to matter what I ate either. My onc said it was common and due to the cells in the lining of the gut being hit by the chemo. I still have some problems with it but not nearly as bad. My last chemo was Nov 7th.
Guest guest
I am NOT alone!!! Yeaaa!! I have the same problem, usually follows my Herceptin treatments which I have every week right now. My husband said to me " What did you EAT?? " ha ha! My Oncologist told me to take Gas-Ex which helps. I was having really bad gas cramps with it and now it is ALOT less painful as long I remember to just take some the first night after treatments. Guest guest
I also have had terrible trouble with gas, extremely painful. I take Gas-X (over the counter) and it helps a lot. > > > > Ok Ladies (smartest on the planet) since we can talk about anyting > > here, I have a question. Guest guest
For all the ladies suffering with (whisper) gas, we all have gas when we get old anyway. My hubby and I sometimes have a symphony through the night. *smile* -- Angel (A.K.A. Mari) mfgershman@... Guest guest
Ok, I have a question. I understand that many hypo symptoms manifest from slower circulation and the fact that many hypos are living daily with mild hypothermia. My question is, if I go into the hottub for 20 minutes each day, will it help with both? Will I raise my body temperature enough to do some of those enzymatic processes that are best done at 98.6 degrees? Just wondering... Judy Access over 1 million songs - Yahoo! Music Unlimited. Guest guest
Hmmm. Very interesting, thanks. OK, I'm going down now and I'll stay in for 20 minutes. I'll try to do this once a day and see if I notice any difference in weight etc. This may explain why I can lose weight when I do excessive cardio exercise, but a spell in the hot-tub would me much more inviting. My husband can eat what he wants, but he's also my own personal furnace. Thanks for the link Sue... Judy You make a good point http://www.the-natural-path.com/hyperthermia.html Expecting? Guest guest
it sounds like it would... warm water always warms me up . although if you are a hypo who is suffering from the hypothermia, remember to start out cool and get the water warm, not the other way around because if you have really bad circulation and hypothermia, you can get nerve damage that way. it's why during rescue missions no matter how bad the frost bite is, docs always clean the hands/feet of the victim in cold water first. let me know how your experiment goes . Guest guest
you're right sue, any place you can sit to work up a sweat (assuming you are a hypo that can), your body will release toxins... yay!! just remember to drink lots of water so you don't dehydrate either . andrea Re: Question I just read somewhere, darned if I remember, that hottubs and/or saunas are GREAT for releasing toxins..sueOn 2/5/07 12:05 PM, "Judy P" <ygroupsjp (AT) yahoo (DOT) com> wrote: Ok, I have a question.
