Guest guest
My poor Juli is having a hard time with the side effects from the Taxotere. She has blister, horrible joint pain, burning in her hands and feet. She is being very brave and active, but I was wondering how long will she have to endure? Her last (HURRAY) chemo treatment was a week ago Friday. cj
Guest guest
she will slowly start to feel better - it took me ~ 6 weeks - but every day, I got incrementally better... she might find, though, that her nails will crack off - that started happening to me abut a month after I finished the taxotere.,..they look terrible! but new nail is growing in--I dab tea tree oil on them - i it's a natual anti-biotic... I finished taxotere in the middle of november - on December 23rd I had my (annual) tree-trimming party - and I wore a black velvet dress, and put gold make-up on my eyes, and red lipstick on my sips...and I made egg-plant parmagian (because that's my step-daughters favorite dish); and spaghetti with shrimp (because that's my son's favorite); and zuchini with mint...and we had wine, and espresso...and I felt great! peace marisa > > My poor Juli is having a hard time with the side effects from the > Taxotere. Guest guest
You know, in Novemeber, I never would have believed that I would EVER feel better...it's amazing to think back now, at how decimated I was...(at the end, I was barely able to walk--and I kept my son home from school for almost three weeks, because i was utterly unable to get him there) but our bodies are amazing things... marisa > > > > > > My poor Juli is having a hard time with the side effects from the > > > Taxotere. Guest guest
CJ - you can tell her the half-life of taxotere is 84 hours (!) - I actually had looked it up - and it explained why the effects crept up on me - until I was flattened; and likewise, explained why the effects receded in the precise manner they crept up on me... for me, finding out the half-life gave me something *concrete* to look forward to and hold on to... of course, if she doesn't want to know - well, just tell her that you'll take her out in 2 months time, and that she'll be able to look *glamorous* if she feels like it marisa > > CJ, > Sorry to hear about Juli. I had to soak my hands in ice water but my hands and feet all peeled!!!! The whole top layer of skin!!!!!!! Looked like a lizard for about 3 weeks!!!! ended up losing finger nails and toe nails!!! The taxol was bad they had to give me something with it that knocked me out to take the dang stuff but I got through it!!! at least the taxol didn't blister my hands or feet again!!! She will make it through I promise but I would advise switching to taxol!!! I am now 3 months out from last chemo and fingernails and toe nails are growing back along with my hair!! Guest guest
Hi. I had the same problem with the Taxotere. As far as the hands and feet, buy a salve called Bag Balm; it's sort of messy, but definitely helps with the burning on the hands and feet. Keep away from hot water too - i wear plastic gloves for showering and stuff. I finished with the Taxotere, but am taking Zeloda pills which still causes the problems, but the Bag Balm really works. Guest guest
(( aaa.....you all make me nervous..!! I just had taxotere 5 days ago for my 2nd chemo. At 1st chemo my Dr gave me Taxol but I had breathless reaction in 5 minutes after injection so for the 2nd chemo he changed it to taxotere. Thank God I didn't get bad reaction again but now I'm a little bit afraid about the side effects to nails you guys said...for now I only get nausea and pimples....I hope it wont get any worse but if that must happen I guess I must ready 4 it...however life must go on and I'm still beautiful, hehe -tyas > > > > My poor Juli is having a hard time with the side effects from the > > Taxotere.
