Guest guest
Hi , I have been on Tamoxifen for just over a year. I am 46 years old and had normal periods before my dx. Since starting the tamoxifen treatments my periods have been VERY IRREGULAR! The first month (Jan.) on treatment, I had 2 periods 2 weeks apart. I did not have another one until mid march. They seemed to somewhat even-out during the summer. I had one on Oct. 6th and did not have amother until dec. 6th. I was scared that time, even though I have been very careful. Then my period started dec 26th!!! It is now jan.15th and wondering when the next one will come. I realize that you have been 5+ months since your last period but that might be a complication from the chemo. I did not have chemo. But I can certainly tell you that my periods are screwed up, I had major hot-flashes in the beginning, although they are not so bad now, and significant weight gain also with Tamoxifen. BC SUX!! Good luck sista!! peace................kimmy > > I guess my message didn't go, so I am posting again... > > Hello ladies, > > I have been gone for a while and I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a good New Year. > I spent those days having my 6-months check-up after chemo. Tons of tests and most of all showed OK My cholesterol is high but it is expected since I am 12 kg (about 26 pounds) overweight. New year, new goals... I am puzzled by my hormone levels though. I had FSH, LH and estradiol done and they came up very low for FSH and LH (2,0 e 0,2, if I am not mistaken) and at 40 pg for estradiol. None of them indicate that I am menopausal, but I am not having my periods and the ultra-sound showed normal sized ovary with small follicles (like they are dormant) and thin endometrius. It has been 7 months since my last chemo and 5 since I stopped zoladex. The hormone levels do not indicate I am menopausal, but why I am not having my periods? They were very normal before. Could tamoxifen be altering the hormonal levels? Am I expecting too much of my body too fast? Should I go to an specialist? I am so tired of doctors... Does someone have an explanation for this situation? The thought of > menopause now freaks me out... > Now, my breast ultrasound came back with BI-RADS 3, which means I need to have a follow-up in a few months. I had such a déjà-vu situation the day of the mammogram when the cancer was first detected... The technician kept asking me to repeat the test and I kept remembering the day I had my first mammogram and when everything began. But the onc doesn't seem concerned although he would like a MRI, which my insurance doesn't cover. I have an appt. with my new breast doctor (I am changing him and the onc) in Feb, just before I take my trip to US (very excited about this!). Anyway, do I need to be more concerned with BI-RADS III? > Thank you girls for being there! > Hugs > > > > > ______________________________________________________________________ ______________ > It's here!
